LMS Rnd 1: Monza 13-15 April 2007
Just 10 days to go before the first round of the Le Mans Series!
News of entries/drivers etc seems to be gathering pace, so I'll get the thread started: Timetable Entry List There's also a button for 'The Race at Home' which has not yet been activated but which I guess will give access to live timing and scoring and the video feed (if there is one). Sadly no Radio Le Mans! Motors TV will have full live coverage of the race!!! |

The entry list on the official Le Mans Series website which I've linked to above has yet to be updated with the Embassy Radical news. The most up to date entry list I'm aware of is on Endurance-Info.com.
The hints/rumours have been around for a while, but Shimoda and Chilton in the Arena Zytek is fantastic news! |

RIS will be carrying the live timing too I guess (They did last year, and it was a bit more reliable than the LMS site!) http://www.ris-timing.be/

I'll hope there is a video feed to catch at least the last 4hrs or so.

The Motors TV schedule for the 15th also suggests live coverage of the 207 Spyder Cup that will support the European rounds of the LMS. The coverage starts directly prior to the LMS race.

Wow! this is going to be a GREAT GREAT GREAT race, we have missed the "mille chilometri" a lot last year and it's great to see it back with all those competitive cars in all the classes... we at racingworld.it will try to do our best to keep you update with the latest news in the paddock
BTW i am big fan of Shimoda too... his performance in 2005 was great |

Definitely looking forward to this one. Would like to have better coverage of the race though. Too bad we can't have Radio Le Mans.
I'm quite happy to see Shimoda and Chilton reunited in the Zytek once again. Regarding Shimoda, why is he blazingly fast in a prototype, but seems to not have impressed in his recent stints in A1 and the World Series by Renault? |

might just be shimoda's driving style, his style as we have already seen goes well with a sportscar, after all in 2005 he was imo the fastest driver alongside tom chilton and nic minassian.
not sure why hayanari shimoda wasnt running at the front in A1GP, but that crash he had were the car was split in half must have been pretty scary for him though. tom chilton will be one of the front running drivers for sure, he's very quick and very consistent and hopefully the zytek will have the reliability it had at the end of last year, and take hayanari and tom to the first zytek win since laguna seca 2005. |

Well, certainly in 2004 and 2005 the Zytek was the car to be in for outright pace and qualifying. I'm keen to see how they fair at Monza.

Francesco ci vediamo la! Hoping for a great race with 50 cars on the grid although for some it might be pushing it a bit (e.g. Swiss Spirit), let's hope all the inscribed are there.

The Renault World Series is also on the bill so it should be a good weekend.

Lets hope the promotion of this great series is improved this season. I wont hold my breath but these events deserve bumper crowds, says the man who wont be at Monza but i'm sure you know my point.
I spoke to John Hindough from Radio Le Mans/Globecast and they have given up trying to cover the LMS as the organisers aren't interested. Its not all doom and gloom though, the ALMS may have brilliant radio, tv and press coverage but its whats on the track that matters most and I cannot wait to see 50 cars pounding round Monza! |

Teaming up with the Renault World Series is a positive movr for the traditionally low attended Monza race.

Monza race predictions thread now open.......
jhansen has now opened the Monza predictions thread (in the Predictions Competition sub-forum). Everyone's welcome to join in and it's not too late to start, even if you missed the first two ALMS races. Good luck!

set-up at monza will most likely be very similar to that of lemans with low wing setting for straight line speed, have tbh but the zytek may struggle with straight line speed this year i think. especially if you look at how fast the new 5.5 litre judd engined cars are as well, but the zytek will more than make up the lost time on the straights through the corners and on the brakes. |
