Sellf-evident title, I hope.
I have been reading this forum for years. I love that you all know so much more than me. So, please, answer this. |

Sports cars and Grand Touring cars are not the same. We can start there. Most of the BS arguments over what belongs and what does not start from the totally wrong belief that sports cars and GT cars are the same thing.

So, the ACO owns the sport? No one, and nothing else counts?

I cannot believe that you do not know the answer to your own question. I have seen you on these forums any times. Or is this a trick question?

It is what it says on the packet? Bodywork over the wheels racing for GT and sportscars.
Leastways, it has been for the last 60 years! |

LOL yeah ... I remember reading about a Can Am car where it was tried but imediatly got prohibited too. And another occasion where it was measured with some obscure method that the driver seat was a centimeter out of center line and because of that technically legal

1995 (or 1994, or 1996) WR had the driver in the middle.

By looking at this years it seems like it was introduced by BPR and died that way too. However, it was during the huge sports car racing void in the 90s

The Sportcars racing still keeps the taste of classic racing, the F1 and other competitions become too much professional and cold but sportcars still smell like old times... Veteran drivers, joung ones, glentemen drivers, big professional structures, teams with literaly 4 guys and no money, people who desing and drive their own car..... And a big, big variety of really different cars -with different sounds- and more take overs in one race (on each category) than the past 20 years of F1..... That´s maravellous

Lots of Intereserie cars were modified single seaters, so had central (single) seats.

Sports car racing = grand touring car racing + sports prototype racing
Grand touring (race) car = a road sports car (not necessarily a grand tourer) modified for improved preformance on track. Sports prototype = a purposely-built race car with closed wheels and a non-touring car shape. I'm not totally sure about where to put Japanese Super GTs and Grand-Am GT Prep 2 cars, since they fit into the latter definition but are commonly considered as grand tourers. |

inspired by Baldrick's definition of "dog = not a cat" from Ink and Incapability
sportscar racing = not single seaters. . or touring cars .. or rally cars .. or ... |
