Who is going to Spa Francorchamps?

Ok guys and girls, I know the Silverstone weekend is still taking place but seeing how competitive it is out on track I wonder who of you is planning to see the cars at the famous Ardenne circuit at the 3rd of May?

My original plan was to go to Spa. But since their ticket sales page didn't work in January and early May was too early anyway, I chose Le Mans.

I did it a few weeks back when the tickets were just €25 incl parking, now they are €28 excl parking. At the gate, if i remember it right, they will be €35.

To much difference for me

Who is going to Spa Francorchamps?

Unfortunately not going to make it this year.

Hope the weather this year is lovely like it was last year for those of you going.

I wouldn't fly to Brussels and drive to Spa with a rental car just to see 'uitverkocht' on the window.

Ok, realistically that's not going to happen during the WEC weekend but I always want to handle the tickets in advance or at least receive a confirmation.

There's always hope. But Belgium and rain are inseparable.

Count me in, I'm taking the channel tunnel to Calais and driving. Very early start on Saturday, hoping to be back home early Sunday morning. I'm hoping to drag a few first timers with me.

Perfectly easy to make the start leaving UK on Saturday (so long as you're within reasonable striking distance of tunnel) and is actually a really nice drive down.

Heading back post race can be a challenge. Remember it finishes at about 2000 local, which makes getting late shuttle back pretty tight. I generally prefer staying the Saturday night and having a touch more leisurely trip home on the Sunday.

Yes, my current itinerary has us leaving the track no later than 2100hrs local. Our crossing back is around 0100hrs CET.

This year the finish is at 20:30 so keep that in mind with the planning.

Pick where you park with a bit of care (maybe paying the €5 or so to park in one of the fields on Rue de Pommard / Route de Circuit rather than the one you might have got free with your entry ticket) and position yourself by La Source for the end and you should be fine to be on the road promptly.

Only challenge will be if you hit roadworks etc on the Brussels Ring but at that sort of time you should be fine. Your other option is to stay south, heading roughly along a line Charleroi, Mons, Lille and then head up to Calais - slightly longer but maybe less potential for traffic.

I will be at Spa for the 6 hours. Do you know if they open the gates at the end of the race for the podium ceremonies?

Might so the same. Seeing that Silverstone was pretty busy and I don't want to have to wait to buy a ticket.

Just looked at the weather forecast for Spa (http://www.accuweather.com/en/be/spa...-weather/29281) and suspect it might make Silverstone look pleasant and warm - definitely time to look at packing upspecced outdoor gear.

Obviously this does mean the portents for the big one in June are now automatically better.

And I think we can call a temperature range from 0-9 a little inclement, even without the periodic rain...

Oh well...
