Car Sharing

As we all know there's been a lot said about costs involved in carrying out our hobby, especially fuel. I did say in the fuel costs thread that I don't mind sharing my car with other marshals. That offer still stands.

So I'll start the ball rolling with a car sharing thread & see how it goes.

I'm going to the Donington training day on 27th January.

Travelling fom Rugby to Donington.

Anyone en route, or surrounding area, wants a lift then a PM is probably best. I've got room for 5 others, possibly 6. First come first served. No charge, as spending a few hours with me is punshment enough, ask Rob_D.

Anyone got any ideas on how this could be listed better or easier then please feel free to change anything.

Cheers

Col

Great Idea, I car share with 2 other local marshals to most meetings and we even out fuel costs by taking it in turns to drive, I'm next to the Donnington Training day.

I can't offer anyone any spaces at the moment i'm afraid (already have a full Car) but I encouarge marhsals who live localy and attend the same meetings to help with costs, making it an even cheaper hobby pus there is that environmental whatsit everyone talks about. (But i'm sure the petrol/diesel/CastrolR burnt by the cars racing makes up for it. :P )

If I have any spaces for anyone in North Derbyshire or people who can get to a Motorway Junction/Services en-route to the track I'll let you know.

I think this is a great idea, I'm also going to the training day at Donington on the 27th. I will be coming down from Heanor, just off junct 26 on the M1.
anyone on my way or in Derby (I can go that way) give me a PM.

Hmm, good idea

I will be going to the training at Donington on the 27th Jan and Oulton Park on the 10th feb coming from Chorley in Lancashire if anyone is near or on the way to either and is brave enough to get in a car with an 18 year old, who's only been driving 8 months.

Just PM me, I'm new so would be great to have a chat about marshalling with anyone!

(I'm safe really btw)

Good idea, perhaps if this take s off, one of the computer whiz kids on here can compile a list of marshals locations and the rounds thay travel to.

So heres ours we live around Thruxton (hampshire) and travel to most BSBK, WSBK, MOTO GP, AND NGRRC all over the country....if you think we can give you a lift send a private message...cheers

I'll be travelling from North London to the Snetterton training day on 27th January, via M25, M11 & A11. Anyone wanting a lift who lives on, or near that route, let me know. Room for 3.

This thread should be placed with the Marshals Needed thread so as all can see. Car sharing is something we should all look at and help each other with.

Perhaps we should have a hot topic thread entitled "Lifts available / needed" Marshals could put a message on saying where they are going to and where they could pick up other marshals on route. Like wise any one needing a lift could put a message on saying where they are going and where they need picking up from. Then its just a simple measure of PM to the person offering or needing the lift.

Good thoughts there. It has been raised with the staff by Asp, and it seems a very sensible suggestion. We're actively duscussing it at the moment as to the best way to progress, so watch this space.
