CookieMonster should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
if in doubt, ask the marshals!

Feel free to move this somewhere else, just thought I'd start by asking my fellow marshals!

A friend of mine is doing his university dissertation on how IT is used at motor racing circuits, eg in the design, timing races, anything where IT is involved. Does anyone know of any suitable contacts at Silverstone and/or Anglesey (the two circuits he’s comparing) that would be useful. I've also thought that MST would be good for the timing aspect - any contacts there?

Any help would be very very much appreciated!

Try www.mstworld.com for contact details. (Other timekeepers are available.)

Anglesey doesn't run a huge number of car race meetings if that's what he's interested in - details at angleseycircuit.com. Most of those events will use mst (if not all), so they are probably the best contact.

Fellow Ten-Tenther Richard Sneaders' good lady is a registered timekeeper.
Perhaps you could PM him for further info.

Failing that, Timekeepers contact details are in the BB

At Oulton & Anglesey, the Race Log is recorded directly onto PC. All communication from Marshals Posts & Radio Traffic is logged.

I've done Race Telephones at Silverstone (FIA GTs) and the radio/telephone messages from post are still recorded on a paper race log.

Because the GTs was organised by BRSCC (Midland), we would write up a pseudo observer's report from the call for anything "of interest" to be passed directly to the CoC who could then take appropriate action immediately (especially useful during a long race). There was quite a procession of drivers throughout the day! Obviously these interim reports don't replace the actual Observer's report.
