New Split-Race Format
Do you agree with the new split-race format?
Personally, I think it's better. If it's a wet race, it's a real gamble for the riders and the cream usually rises to the top anyway. If it's dry, then the rider who was leading should really maintain the advantage anyway. Secondly, it's far easier to understand for the viewer and team than having the riders split on aggregate. Makes the riders continue to push at 100% and, if the race is split right down the middle like yesterday, it's more of a sprint race, which makes it all the more fun. I give the rule two thumbs up! |

It was an exciting finish, but really, apart from getting rid of the aggregate timing, it wasn't much different to the old rule. It also brings up the point of what was the point of the first half of the race?

would not be a better option .. do score points in both races .. the first race . you cscore half the points ..of a full race ... this is because .. they raced .. the first race for nothing ....

I think the new rules suck- it means that the riders have been racing for nothing. Why not run the races as in F1- let the riders themselves decide whether to change tyres or not, but no red-flagging. They are old and wise enough to decide if it's worth risking continuing on slicks or pitting for intermediates or full wets.

I think it's just a safety issue...

The front wheels are changed complete with the discs, so I don't see a problem there. The pads would need to be changed too, but that is a one-minute job so hardly worth mentioning. In F1 teams change wheels and the setup from dry to wet within a matter of seconds- so why not the same format for bikes? The faster your pit crew is, the greater your benefit.

I always hated the old aggregate races. What annoyed me was Edwards being gifted about 7 places at the restart. Just happy he didn't stay there!
