James Thompson. No explanations should be needed. If I have to start a list of reasons I might overload the server

Will people stop complaining about Russell. He said something stupid and to be honest, very few drivers did not agree. In fact, during the interview sessions in the Holden merchandise tent, Russell, Larry, Christian Murchison and a few others all joked about it and in fact Murchison called himself a backmarker (using Ingall's terms too). I will wholeheartedly admit that Ingall said it in totally the wrong way, but he is right that there are some drivers that shouldn't be there as they don't do their job well enough. If you are a backmarker, and some drivers/cars will never be more than backmarkers, then you need to keep out of the way of the faster cars and too often there were a few that didn't. Now obviously it is not always possible to keep out of the way (for instance through the dipper) but if they are paying attention then the backmarker will get out the way at the soonest possible moment.
And no, you are not allowed to nominate me for this thread now As for my nomination, I'd say Matt Neal for not keeping out the way when he should have. |

I don't know if it is fair to nominate Daniel Natoli, that car he was driving is a Terry Finnigan VN Commodore.... and a great deal many drivers knocked back the drive at Bathurst in that car, several were offered it for free, while offers even filtered down to Formula Vee drivers....
My nominations: Of course Matt Neal Rodney Forbes the Muller/Plato effort at Bathurst nearly everyone in the ASTC, race 2 at Lakeside- disgrace I'' go off and have a think about some more.. |

Having not even seen the Bathurst coverage, I still feel compelled to nominate Matt Neal for the 'award' this year. He was an oaf in many of 2000's BTCC races and his stunt while being lapped at Bathurst was a disgrace.
Sorry, elephino, Russell's comments - not just at Bathurst, but also at QR - have him firmly in the top spot for the Aussie award... Menu, Reid and Thompson also get 'encouragement awards' for their parts in the 2000 season!! |
