TCR Ranking
Self-made (unofficial, for sure ) TCR ranking, based on every TCR-marked race. So no ETCC, for example.
It's similar to tennis or cycling ranking: a result counts for an entire year, this below is the scoring system. Only races ran by a driver (for example, only two+QR in Benelux Series' round) count. No points if a driver (this for endurance races) doesn't run enough time during a race (TCR Spain, for example). Points are assigned even if a driver is not eligible for points (last round of the German Series, for example). Half-points assigned for a half-points race (TCR Benelux sprint race-4 in Spa, for example). If you are interested, I will update the ranking every week This is the top 20 updated to 17 October: |

Amount of entries could also be a factor. If there are only 5 entries I rate the result lower than if there are 15 entries.

Great work!
Was thinking of doing something like that for GT3, but ran out of steam very quickly. Also, you'd probably be better off ranking/weighting the series individually. Right now, TCR Germany is a lot more competitive than any of the regional series and probably right up there with the International series. Last edited by Speed-King; 23 Oct 2016 at 17:36. |

I put national series together because they are basically considered at the same level. It depends only from the drivers involved, dinstinguishing every single series is too complicated.

Alternatively, you could give up the part with the regional series - those are usually run in places that are too weak to put together a proper national series - so they really shouldn't be elevated above the latter. And while you're at it, you might wanna close the gap to the International Series somewhat. Right now that one seems grossly overvalued. |

Update from the weekend, with the TCR Benelux in Assen added and results from 2015 TCR International and Asia in Buriram dropped.
TCR Benelux points: General ranking: Lémeret took a few points, staying in 21st position just in front of Caprasse (1399 and 1366 points). Kuppens jumps into 43rd position with 923 points. |

The champion of strongest national series Josh Files only 20th...I think the system needs some tweaking.

Files ran less races than, for example, Caprasse, and in TCR Benelux it's easier to take more points than in Germany. But I think that we can't consider a national championship more important than another one, because every year the drivers' level can change.

I agree, there will always be some injustices in a system like this and things that don't seem quite fair, but I would at the very least get rid of the difference between the national and regional series. There really is no strong regional series that would suggest a higher value for those races vs the national ones.
By all means, keep the bonus points for the endurance races, but regional and national TCR should be in the same points group right now. |

Overall 2016 ranking with 2015 comparison:
Comini still leads but only thanks to the points (280) taken in Colmarberg in the Benelux Series. Morbidelli surprisingly seventh, what an unlucky season for him. Corthals is the best driver from the national series, but he took points also from the International Series and the Europe Trophy: his ninth place reflects his level quite good. The Portuguese champion, Francisco Mora, is 11th, just in front of Colciago, while Bragin is 16th, Lémeret 17th, Yan 19th and Files 20th, talking about the other champions. Files is penalised by having three "zeros" in the German series and some half-points races (TCR Germany in Zandvoort and Macau GP). In 2017 more races and more points for sure, starting from the 24h Series and the Middle East Series in Dubai. |
