IAM should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I know KC is planning on going. I have my tickets paid for and allocated, but not in hand until August.

I am planning on arriving on the 21st and leaving the 25th.

Perhaps we could all meet up somewhere, I promise to TRY not to bring any storms

I know NeilC is going-you might try dropping him an Email as I don't think he's in this forum very often.

I'll be there if I win the Road & Track contest!
Otherwise, I'll just have to settle for Montreal.

Not going to be able to make the trip. I spent my money on the British GP instead. Maybe next year.

Yes I will be there! I think Murph will be too.

I dont have tickets, but Ford promised they will take me. As of last week they still have me on their list.

They better, if they want me to continue to support their 3rd rate team (just kidding Ford).

KC, did you sell your tickets or cancel them?

I got to admit I'm having a Hell of a time finding a Hotel. Found one, a Days inn but I think it's in India not Indianapolis

It is nearly impossible to find ANY accomodation for the 3 days of a GP near the track. In montreal, all I could find was 2 rooms at the YMCA. Better than nothing I guess.

Tell us all about the USGP, if it is any good I might go down there myself next year.

I'm still looking for hotels. Getting further and further out of town.

Probably time to check the address book for friends in surounding towns/cities.

Yep...... I will be at Indy in September..... just wished it was The Glen!
I am staying in Anderson, Indiana which means I will have an hour drive to the track. IAM.... have you contacted the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association? (www.indy.org) They helped me get my room. I would imagine that hotels would be real hard to come by at this time..... but maybe a bed & breakfast would be still a possibility. Good hunting! Luckily for me... my biggest problelm is in deciding which T's ( the Gilles & Enzo one, the Senna winnning at Spa one, the iconic memory Ferrari one,
the Nigel winning at Magny Cours one, the Randy Owens/Schumi at Montreal one, or the plethora of assorted Ferrari and Jordan ones) and hats (Liger Giantes, Red Bull Sauber, or Jacques "Lucky Strike" hat) to pack.

I'll be going too. I am also having trouble finding a motel. I can't believe they are all booked. I waited until just a few days before the Brickyard and still managed to find a room about 30 miles from the track.

If you find anything let me know and I will do likewise.

Where are your seats? I am just at the end of the front straight where they will be going into turn 1.

I have seats in the "North Vista" Sec. S38, Row NN seats 9 & 10.

I think I have a room at a Super 8 right at the track for the 21st. But nothing after that except for 75 miles away!
Still working on it though.

I live 2 miles ( well, maybe 3) from the track & WON'T be going! Already scheduled for a race that weekend !

There are a ton of hotels around here - I suggest that you contact the Chamber of Commerce to get a listing.

As for getting to the track on race day - DO IT EARLY ! Like maybe 6 am latest. Traffic can get rather backed up! Best bet is to find out what the bus routes & times are coming in from the east side of the track - coming in from the west & north is the worst, especially after about 7 am. If you don't mind walking a couple of miles, park wherever you can find a paying spot & hoof it - it will be a lot less hassle ('cept if it rains!)

Oh - make sure you bring ear plugs ! The grandstands amplify the sound tenfold!

Hey Enzo; if your going out of town.....how about renting me your house for the week and throw in a car?

I've already been in touch with the Chamber and about everyone in a 75 mile radius.

Sorry - no can do !

Have you though of renting an apartment for the month ? It's rather common for apartment compexes to keep 1 or 2 furnished apartments available for rent short term.

I realized that, & was hesitant on how to respond as I can't get the smilies to work!

I'm serious about the apartment route though. If you split it with a few other people from here in 10-10ths you will probably find it may be cheaper than motel rooms.
And a heck of a lot closer! Believe me, once you get outside of the I465 Beltway around the city, there isn't much to see!

If you want, e-mail me your address & I'll sent via snail mail copies of mags of all the apartment complexes in the Indy area & maybe photocopies of the hotel listings in the Yellow Pages.

e-mailing you I think will be slower than snail mail as first you have to have an e-mail address

Well after numerous contacts with enzo (Thank you) I have come across a company that will rent me a furnished apartment for a month.

I am going to get a 3 bedroom unit. I now have a group of 6 going. So the cost per person is approx. $425.00 and that covers everything for a MONTH not just 3 or 4 days.

I am now going to go a little earlier and have some extra fun. Perhaps I'll make it party central for everyone to be able to meet!

If anyone else wants to try the same rout to avoid a 1 to 2 hour drive, contact me and I will give you the details. Then you can cancel your overpriced Hotels

Glad I could help !

It would be a shame for people to fly/drive/whatever all this way & have to stay an hour away. For the most part, even a half hour away is the middle of nowhere ! Indy may not be New York or Boston, but overall it's a neat place to visit, especially for motorheads. The amount of racing going on around here is enough to satisfy anyone. If you've never seen a sprint car on a dirt track, you are in for a treat. I'll try to se what the schedules are for that week & post it here for your perusal. Hope you all enjoy your stay !
