Baird, Besnard shown door
Baird, Besnard shown door
By Ray Kershler March 3, 2006 CONTROVERSIAL V8 Supercar team owner Craig Gore has sacked both of last year's drivers ahead of the new season. Although there has been no official announcement from Gore's WPS Racing team, official entry lists for this month's Clipsal 500 reveal David Besnard and Craig Baird have both lost their drives. Gore has listed Jason Bargwanna and Max Wilson as the drivers of his two-car entry for the opening round of the season. Gore inherited Bargwanna from a deal with Larkham Motorsport last year but Wilson, a Brazilian who came to Australia for the 2002 season, is a surprise choice. Baird and Besnard were 23rd and 25th respectively in the V8 Supercar championship last year and there are suggestions they will drive in the less high-profile Carrera Cup for Porsches this season. Kiwi Baird is a 15-time winner of the New Zealand V8 championship but has struggled for results in the Australian series. Good old Kerschler. Right on the pace, Daily Telegraph. Send him off to cover bowls - this story was in the motorsport press (MN etc) on Wednesday, bandit.

That Kershler really takes the cake doesnt he, right on the ball...not.
Bessy and Baird are really nice blokes who can drive but unfortunately are just another casualty of the Gore "chew em up and spit em out cause we think we know what we are doing show" Anyone like to take bets on how long Gore stays in the industry before he runs out of people to burn. |

Baird won many a race in the New Zealand Touring Car Championship in BMWs, but i ask Ray, when did he ever win anything in a V8 over there? |

These are the same two drivers who have been shown the door from every team they have driven for in V8's are they not. It would appear now that there are less and less team owners gulible to employ them and so they have/will move to the Cup Cars in some sort of an effort to resurect their flagging careers. Both drove for SBR and both could not perform with any sort of consitant pace or finishing rate, one went to FPR and continued to crash into anything in his way, whilst the other went to team Kiwi and probally was not in the bvest car to be honest but did little to inspire. Not sure who "Bessy" is driving for in Cup Cars , but what a gig the VIP ride is, anyone who saw Youlden getting crashed into by his car owner at Indy will know what a great gig that is. i hope they can settle down and get some results, I hold far more hope for Baird than the other gumby. |

I thought it was poor form for Caltex to be written about in last Saturday's Sydney Morning Herald, and the photo they chose to run was of the Besnard/Wills Qld 500-winning AU..... it was a huge pic too, almost A4 size...
They obviously havent heard of Rusty yet.. |

Its great to see that max has a drive for 2006, drove a poor car in 2005 with a engineer that didn't listen to him in a very underfunded team and was always quicker than he should of being also a bloody good racer have a look at how many times he crashed last year and the amount of times he broke down it might surprise you and have a look at his postion when he broke down. Should have being higher in the championship at the end of the year!!!!

If I was Bairdo and Bessy, I wouldn't wanna drive either of those cars either...they look shocking. A five year-old would've done a better job designing those cars.
