2003 Dutch TT - Assen
Looks like the 125cc at minimum will be a wet race...

The Assen races have always been on a Saturday. Not sure why.

Maybe because of religion, but I am not shure. Some people in that area are only permitted to go to church on Sunday.

Maiden victory for both Steve Jenkner and Anthony West, and great, real professional drive by Sete.

Great ride by Sete! And Biaggi too.
Sete is really doing a solid job on the works Honda Bayliss and Haga were very promising... The speed is there but like with Stoner we need some solidity! |

Altho Im a Max fan I am lovin the way Sete is sticking it to them this year, he's just responded in such a positive way sine Dajiro was killed - he's brought his team back from the depths and showed what a fine racer he is - more power to his elbow.
Good show by West as well - aint seen that one yet, but Im sure it was down to his natural talent, lets hope he gets on a big bike again in the next few years. |

Was a bit of a letdown after the first few laps. I was really looking forward to a exciting wet race and Troy was looking really good, right up until he ditched it!

I've yet to see the 125cc race but it's about time Jenkner won and that will surely re-ignite his championship hunt. Shame about Lucio though. That's two races in a row without scoring.
Westy I've already spoken about in another thread, but it was a fantastic ride. And Sete was magnificent. He was just so fast and confident in the conditions. Biaggi tried his best but couldn't match the Spaniard while IMO Rossi was playing it safe. 16 points was better than none. Bayliss blew a real chance at a podium. But he showed grit by getting back on the bike and scoring points so I don't think Ducati will be too angry at him. I was surprised guys like McCoy and Tamada were not higher up. McCoy because he usually rides very well in the wet while Tamada with his Bridgestones should have really been mixing it. |

McCoy is having major problems this year - any reasons why do we know? I mean Alex Hoffman won the Kwacker class again!

I can't really think of anything as to why McCoy is struggling. Frankly, he hasn't looked comfortable on these new machines and really appears to be struggling with confidence.

It's no secret that McCoy is one of the riders that were dead against the switch from two-stroke 500s to 990 four-strokes. He is clearly unhappy with his current situation and I don't think he is as motivated as he could be; the Kawasaki not being anywhere near competitive with ANY bike on the track doesn't help either. Put him on the KR3, though, and you will see a man transformed. Sadly, that's not very likely to happen.

I was disconsolate when Nori dropped it. I was expecting him to lose the front end at the start of the race, not have a weird-looking monster of an off 2 laps from the flag. At least people saw he can actually still ride the thing...
Rossi still isn't so hot in the wet, is he? Bayliss? Well, remember Silverstone SBK last year - went like a maniac and dropped it about 3 times. No surprise seeing him go fast or chucking it down the road! |

Rossi doesn't risk it in the rain .. don't know why .. I remember him winning a race .. i think it was Nurburgring ... in 125 after Sakata droped ... but still didn't look impresive .. and in 1999 at Donington .. but that wasn't a proper wet race

I have to agree with Rambo that Rossi isn't the best wet-weather rider (I'm NOT saying he isn't the best out there so don't misquote me!!)
Although the records don't show it, I do think Sete is the best wet-weather racer on the grid at the moment. Though I remember Kenny was once a good pedaller in the rain as well. |
