Raikonnen and Robertson to set up Brit F3 Team!
On autosport.com now as their top story that Kimi Raikkonen and his manager Steve Robertson are set to establish a Formula 3 team next year which could run in the British series.
Apparently the article runs in tomorrows autosport so will be more on it then. Could be a MASSIVE coup for the British series. To have a current Formula 1 driver in Raikkonen and one of the top driver managers in Robertson in charge of a team could have huge benefits to any driver driving for them and could be a huge boost to the prestige of the British Championship. Thing of how many more people would come through the gates if Kimi made an appearance at an F3 meet that didn't clash with F1! Things are looking up kidz! Last edited by Gaz; 3 Nov 2004 at 18:32. |

Happy 21st birthday, Gaz!
Hope you have a good one tonight. On the F3 note, there's an article on this on the free www.crash.net site. |

Raikkonen can use his extensive F3 experience. Oh wait...
Still it is good news for the British series and a nice sideline for Kimi. Although the Autosport article tomorrow says that the team will weigh up the oprion of the euro or British championship. Last edited by Adam43; 3 Nov 2004 at 19:40. |

I read that aswell, and posted on another board.
The general consensus is that Raikkonnen is involved in name only, just to give it a famous name, and they have yet to confirm what series it is. I'm guessing it will be the Euroseries... |

Maybe he is worried Montoya will blow him away next season
Making a nest elsewhere just in case, F3 is unifinished (and unstarted) business for Kimi... Raikkonen will waste JPM though |

Very original, that a still young F1 driver sets up an F3 team, normally they do it when retired.
Interesting: theoretically, considering the typical path to F1 of a driver, he could find one of his protegees fight him within 2-3 years. Last edited by climb; 4 Nov 2004 at 07:24. |

How about Danny Watts - one of Kimi's team-mates at Manor in FRenault in 2000 (who recalls that Danny actually won their first race together, on Brands Hatch's GP circuit, while Kimi was third thanks to fuel surge problems) ...
Stranger things have happened. |

Obviously money is an issue for Danny Watts, but surely he wouldn't opt for yet another year in F3 would he? especially if it was to be the British series...

Well, Piquet and Carroll have both done three seasons of F3 and Danny did three seasons of FRenault before he won it. And I don't think I said it would have to be British F3 ...
