Plans for next season

Just thought I'd ask everyone what events they hope to do next year, plus how they choose them.

I can't plan much outside of mid June to September due to pretty heavy course commitments, but plan to follow the MG Total Butler Championship (plus other MG meetings) again and the LMES and lawnmowers, as well as much as I can fit in with BRSCC EA Rescue - hopefully I won't be on crutches next year!

I make my choices based on what I enjoyed last year, and anything that looks new and interesting

As it will be my first full year I want to do as much as possible.
Hope to have a look at Brands, Thurxton and Gurston Down at least.
But will still do the odd rally & sprint, as have done for a number of years.

Not so sure about 2005 - might not be doing anything if work gets in the way!

However, if all goes to plan, I would really like to get to Cadwell Park - especially for the MGCC and the 750 team.
Not bothered about doing the BTCC/GT's/F3's/F1.....been there done that!

Will hopefully support the BRSCC NW @ Oulton & Anglesey again.

I plan to do a lot of Zandvoort meetings as a marshal, hope to do some racing (budget!), and 'as allways' I'll be around for the festival at Brands.

As usual Cadwell and the odd trips to Croft, Mallory, & Silverstone.
Also hope to visit Knockhill for the first time.

Seasons greetings to you all, and hope to see as many as possible in 2005

GTPstarter should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
There is a group of 7 of us that usually plan on working every other weekend through out the season.
We take the schedule and work it both ways from the 6hr. weekend in June. Every two weeks in both directions. It's easy to do for me as I work at a government run university and have the summers off from there. My summer employer also enjoys racing and has no problem with me taking a Thursday and or Friday off.
So my racing season looks like this, Porsche Clash, 6 Hours of the Glen, SCCA Glen Nationals, NASCAR, U.S. Vintage GP, the IRL fall race, the SCCA Trout Run Hillclimbs, and the Susquehanock Pro Trail Rally. And from time to time I'll go out to the local dirt track (winged sprints and late models) and help out. Now if I could just squeeze in a drag race I'd have it all covered.

Where?

I will start with running Race Control for the test days for the Rolex 24 at Daytona 07-09 JAN.

On 13 & 14 JAN I wil be a marshal for the test days at Moroso (West Palm Beach FL) and 15 & 16 probably a starter for the SCCA national races.

20 & 21 JAN, I will be a marshal for the "Cavalino Classic" Ferrari meet at Moroso.

28-31 JAN, probably the Lamborghini meet at Moroso.

03-06 FEB, I will be running Race Control at the Rolex 24.

26 FEB, Race Control for the SCCA Sebring regional races.

15-16 MAR, Starter for the Sebring 12hrs test days.

16-19 MAR, Race Control for the Sebring 12hrs.

25 MAR, marshal for the Moroso test day.

26 MAR, marshal for the SCCA regional races at Moroso.

01-03 APR, marshal for the St.Pete Grand Prix.

08 APR, Race Control for the SCCA Daytona driver's school.

That's 27 days and the 1st quarter of the year isnt over yet.

The rest of the year (till DEC) works out to two events/month.

Anyone want to `come and play'? PM and I will see what I can do for you.

Helping organise the "other festival of speed" at Lydden on September 10th. Giving out information at the Brentwood show. Already confirmed are the Camso V8s for a full championship round on the oval.

Just the usual 60 days! - everything the 750MC put on (as a C of C), same with the HSCC dates that dont clash & then fill in the missing days with whatevers on ay Mallory & Silverstone. Aim to go to Knockhill for the 1st time & also revisit Anglesey.

I'm wouldn't say I'm cutting down, but I'm looking a lot more carefully at the travel time involved for some meetings. It's getting a bit non-productive having to be at work at 8am on a Monday when I haven't got home till 11 or 12 the night before. Probably going to restrict myself to Thruxton, Rockingham, and one or two ventures to Sillystone and Brands.

It is an interesting comment that "cynic" makes about travel time. A lot of drivers feel the same way, particularly if mechanics and helpers come along as well. Being stuck on the M1 for hours on end is no fun.

For the first time in a few years getting my orange out will not be taking top priority, may not renew my memebership yet. Am getting a little fed up of ticking all the boxes and doing only one or two of the jobs they are asking for.

I won't be doing anything. I've thought long and hard and talked it through with Steve and have decided that 2004 was my last year of motorsport.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Here I was hoping to come up and play in the pit lane with you this season!

As for me, currently planning to do more days, although some that I'm hoping to do I might have to cancel due to my final year exams.
