Window Name Stickers
Hi
Sorry for the newbie questions, but can anyone advise where I can get hold of large letter stickers to shove in the back side-window of my XR2 for the 750 Stock Hatch championship? I've been to all the motorist shops and 'bad boy racer' style places but the best I've been offered is white number plate stickers and I'm after something a little larger and more prominent than those. Thanks. Phil |

Just pop along to a local signwriter shop. Ask if they do cut-vinyl stickers (most will).
Tell them your name, and what font, colour and size you need (generally: Arial Bold, white, 5cm high (or 3 inch, if you have a small name)), they should be able to do you a set in no time at all, and for just a couple of quid. Good luck in the Stock Hatches - hope you're panel damage budget is sufficient |

Try your local sign writer. A lot of these guys can do vinyl stickers these days. Just tell them what you want, and pays your money

fantastic stuff. I'll get this sorted tomorrow.
Yeah, the Sock hatches do have a bit of a rep don't they! I'm not really into the argy bargy overtaking but I guess I'll have to go against my nature and toughen up a bit. |

Yeah - but by the time I've done 2 laps in the car in a Stock Hatch race, the stickers will be the only thing looking flash. :-)

If you want something flash, Chris went to the Autosport Show last year, and got name stickers done in prismatic reflective stuff. They're particularly effective when the sun shines on them, and you can see them a long way away. Good for attracting some attention to your car - just make sure you don't double the attention-grabbing by doing something stupid too

Hey! You're giving all my secrets away
You're only allowed your name anyway - advertising isn't allowed on transparent surfaces (except the sunstrip), says the Big Blue Book of Bother. |

The cheapest and easiest way is to go to your local DIY shop, they will have A to Z in white or black vinyl on a large sheet with pockets on, (the exact right size) and the letters cost about 4 pence each ! Trust me , I get a new set everytime I change my co-driver(as often as they out qualify me!)

You may like to phone Geoff White on 020 8440 0144. He done all the graphics and letters for my Alfa Romeo (see http://www.digest.net/alfa/FAQ/164/164pic.jpg ) in 1999. His main business is lettering for car showrooms, with mobile service all around London. Hope this helps.

or you could contact an outfit in Swindon, http://www.impact-display.co.uk they are able to do a fantastic array of vinyl graphics very reasonably. We use them for our FF1600 and they are more than helpful. Contact Carl.

I'm in E14 but the car is kept at my Dad's place in Oxford due to space constraints.
If you like, send me an email at phil@phil-law.co.uk as I've got an interesting idea for you! Phil |

In Australia, we just go down to the local signwriter's shop, they type it in to a Windows based programme, you choose colour, font size etc. They press a button and a laser cutter marks out the letters, you peel away the excess background and you're done. 5 minutes work and cost about $20. Too easy.

Just don't use black shoe polish, that tends to bake in
