BMW E21 racecars
Hi! I'm trying to find/get good pictures of both works cars and team Schnitzer (Gr5). Their bodykits and wings are interesting... I have some idea about how they differs but more info would be nice.
Also if someone have pictures about Tuisku Urpiala's and Nils-Gustav Wiik's Gr5 iceracing cars I would be wery interested indeed. Tryed to search but darn four-letter-rule hinderes my quest!? How to search BMW-stuff? |

Hello Tzei,
Nils-Gustav Wiik`s 320 Group 5 car was brought to England from Finland about 6 years ago. It is still here. Also I think Urpiala`s 320 is here.(were they the same car ???) I am confused about owners of these cars in Finland, but i also brought 2 more Group 5 320`s from Finland. One from John Westman, one from a bankrupt sale. Both are still here. I can send you pictures if you want. Alex. |

Hi Alex E. N-G Wiik's car is Team Schnitzer car and left here with 2.0/2.1 tbo 16V eng. T.Urpiala's car is BMW Junior Team's car (2.0 NA 16V a.c.a. F2 M12/7?). Orginally from Sweden, made for R.Pettersson -I thik. Yes they are different cars. Urpiala's car was then owned by gentleman called Helge Snabb, Then I'm not sure - maybe J.W bought it next? N-G W's car may well been that auction car! I think they both came to England thru J.W.
Have done some digging around the subject. Pictures would be highly appreciated. How many Gr5 cars do you have? I know only these two that was factory-build that was in here. |

Hi Tzei
Yes the Wiik car was ex Schnitzer, Winkelhock/Rodenstock. The other 320 chassis #22 was ex BMW Motorsport and then BMW Sweden. This is the car that I got from a bank sale. The other car from JW is a mystery as I could only trace it back to Mr Simonsen in Sweden, who owned it in early 1980`s. When I got it it had a normally aspirated Schnitzer 2 litre slant engine I think from a 2002.So in all I have three cars here rom finland. I am invloved with 4 more of these cars as well. One Schnitzer, one HAT and one Junior Team car. If I find any good pictures I will send them to you, is any one of particular interest ? Regards Alex. |

Yes. I'm lookin into buying GF-molds for those Gr5 Schnitzer and works junior team cars. Since they are rather expensive I'd like to know what they should look like.So pics of bodykits in detail would be helpfull. Now I recall that there was few cars that came from Sweden but they weren't factory cars but made from normal streetcar by someones in Sweden. I reveal my lack of knowledge but what is HAT? Regards Tzei.

Hi Tzei,
I do have some body moulds here, but for you I think JW can help. When I bought his 320 he offered me a complete set of body moulds but I declined due to problems transporting them. If you contact him I am sure he will still have them. Please pass on my regards. I did have contact with someone in Germany who had approx two sets of new body panels. But I think they have been sold now. HAT is Hohmann Auto Tecknik who were a semi-works team in the DRM 1977. Regards Alex. |

Did JW say for wich car (schnitzer or works) he had body panel moulds for and how much do you think that they are worth? The rumor of moulds may be just these? But here exists moulds for both cars - I think... Will look JW op also.

Hi Tzei,
The moulds did exist when I bought the car as I still have pictures of them. He also had some other 320 parts that might still be of interst to me. Not sure which design but the rear fenders are the same for both, just the front fenders and spoiler are different. JW will know which car they are for I am sure. As for value very difficult as the moulds if bad quality might be useless. However I am sure JW does not have a use for them. If you should ever find any old rally cars in Finland please let me know as I am interested. Especially anything BMW, though unlikely I suppose. Regards Alex. |

Hi Alex!
Pics of moulds would be interesting... All old rally cars (any make)are rather well digged up for historic race/rally so... If one gets extremely lucky them maybe. I know one 2002 that is orig. rally car (J. Todd was once co-driver) but not surprisengly it's not for sale! From time to time cars (ready) are sold. Want to have one of those? Could ask around for NK, 2002 with FIA-pass. Regards Tzei |
