Digital SLR's and rain?
Up at Donnington for the Seat Cupra round this afternoon. Shooting with a Nikon D70 when the heavens opened. Fled back to the car ASAP. What do other people do to protect Digital SLR’s from the rain. I have had two digital cameras destroyed by wet weather ( OK a Fuji 401 and a Fuji S602) Both kept inside a gortex jkt. Am I being over cautious? Are the Nikon pro cameras better in the wet or can you but waterproof covers for cameras and lenses?
Cheers Rich |

I'll second the Aquatech. Not cheap, but neither is my gear.

What you can do is get a cheap kiddies cagoule, cut it in half and then use the sleeve for your lens (nice elasticated sleeve end to keep it in place) and either leave the remainder loose to cover the body or stitch it up (maybe with elastic) so that it fits more snug.
Thats my cheap way ..trouble is my wife made me a red one which was a no no with the marshalls |

what you do is get your kit bag, open it up, carefully make space for your camera, then place it in there nice and dry, then find a spot out of the rain to watch the race. pros are paid to get wet and/or ruin their gear...are you?

Get an Olympus E1... Fully weather sealed. I got puddle jumping up mountains, and it just keeps working. Plus with the LCD ultrasonic cleaning gizmo, it doesn't mind you changing lenses either.
I love mine. Tim |

Shot in the rain all day on Monday. Aquatechs kept the gear completely bone dry. They work great. Spend the money and get quality covers and you will never have to worry about your gear.
