Monoposto Racing Club 2022 calendar
The Monoposto Racing Club's 2022 calendar is as follows:
The main championship will be 14 races with 11 rounds counting towards the championship and contested over 6 race weekends. Silverstone and Oulton part will be one qualifying session and two races. Snetterton and Donington GP will be one qualifying session and three races. The others will be seperate qualifying and race per day. 23-24 April - Snetterton 300 (3 races) 21-22 May - Brands Hatch GP 18-19 June - Donington Park 30-31 July - Silverstone GP 27 August - Oulton Park International 17-18 September - Donington Park GP (3 races) The autumn Tiedeman Trophy Championship will be 6 races over 3 single race days. The dates aren't fully finalised yet, with Castle Combe confirmed, another event almost confirmed and a decision as to Silverstone yet to be agreed - this is the Walter Hayes Trophy weekend. 2022 Tiedeman Trophy Calendar 1 October - Castle Combe TBA 5 or 6 November - Silverstone National F3 Cup cars are eligible in the Tiedeman Trophy invitational class. F3 Cup won't be running in 2022 as agreement couldn't be made between teams, drivers and circuits, but they are looking to make a return in 2023. |

Nice to see the Monopostos at Castle Combe just a shame the championship finals meeting doesn't share the same weekend as the Autumn Classic meeting anymore. Just one observation, the first Monoposto race I saw was in 1975 and the oldest car in that race was a ( ex ?) Formula Junior Lotus roughly fifteen years old. These days a fifteen year old car would be one of the newer cars, but I guess that is the nature of single seater racing these days.
A great shame about the F3 Cup, but with grids rarely breaking into double figures for the last few seasons, not entirely surprising. The days of privateers buying last years chassis from professional teams are of course long gone and with professional series using the same cars for season after season 'new' cars never come onto the market. However, I hope the organisers of the F3 Cup can revive the series as the British racing scene can't afford to lose another single seater series. |

There are various classes within Monoposto and the cut-off dates vary depending on class.
The Mono F3 category is for F3 derived single seaters and currently the newest car permitted is a 2007 chassis. The next era of homologated chassis was from 2008 until 2011. The Mono club are trying to work out how to allow these cars in favourably and without alienating the older cars or forcing them to upgrade. Other classes can have a much newer chassis if required - 2017 for some classes for a "commercially available chassis" or newer if its a homebuilt special. The newer cars are expensive to buy and quite expensive to run and with the demise of various traditional professional F3 Series around the world, there are fewer chassis available to buy. Hopefully we'll see F3 Cup again. |
