closed season thread - do you name your car?

I have but never on purpose. Heres my selection and why they have these names..

NKS001 - "Magog" after the protector of the city of London - I intended to use the car on the Miglia Quadrato rally (in the City of London)

NKS002 - "Gog" Magogs twin, the chassis is identical - but when I registered it the number plate 606 which kinda looks like Gog - spooky.

Austro Vee - "Christine" perhaps the most spooky car in British motorsport (a long story for another thread) the car was nicknamed Christine by the other drivers after the famous haunted car

VW Golf Road rally car - "old red" its old and its red and it refused (refuses) to die.

Anyones else name thier motors or am I just a nutter?

Never been able to afford to have a race car, but did once own a Vauxhall Carlton which I used to call 'The Enterprise', for two reasons really, the handling was so bad that when chucked into a bend it 'would boldy go where no other Vauxhall Carlton has gone before' and also if I remember correctly at such times you had to 'cling on!' - Balders

The race car is called "the race car", the kit car is called "the kit car", the motorbike is called...

Besides, never name something you may have to eat/crash into a wall.

OK Here's my confession, husband's cars included...

Race Car - Stinky - 1st owner named her that after the numberplate
Husband's race car - Peril - because she's yellow
Van - Bertha - because she's so little
Road Car - No Name and can't think of one
Husband's road car - Cav - because she's a Vauxhall Cavalier
Old Skoda - Snowdrop - cos she's white(ish)
DS - DiDi - Because I couldn't think of anything else
2CV - Shed - because of the numberplate
Dyanne - Dodgy - speaks for itself
Modified Dyanne - Coffin - because it looks like a...
Old 2CV - Red - Becasause she's red

"The race car" or "The racer" is what I use too. Although I do pat her when she's done well and sometimes when she's poorly (this last might be to make up for the times when I scream "come on you *****").

My track car is called Tipsy. Its an anamgram on its reg.

My road car got christened Stitch cause it's little and blue.

What about mascots? Each of my cars has a mascot.

My first Nova was known as "The little beastie, because it was, and it won plenty", The second was the "Yellow Peril", which was interestingly enough, very yellow, and had hand grenade type engines, thus was a peril! The third is just known as "The heap" because the shell was far from tidy. Even though it's wheels all point in the right direction, and it probably handles better than any of the previous incarnations.

My latest project is "Harry". A Vauxhall Belmont, named after Harry Belafonte... (Belamonte?) Sad, I know.

As for road cars, my first Opel Manta was called Kermit. It was a very bright green, it looked superb, it did, really!, but was rotten as a pear under it's shiny exterior. That was replaced by "The Nut Bus", a 1978 Opel Ascona, which was the first road car I could say that had the "parts bin treatment". It wasn't stunningly fast, but handled like it was on rails. I was described as a "nut" because I didn't slow down for corners (probably because the brakes were useless!)

The "Nut Bus" was replaced by "William", a 3L Senator, ex-plod (Old-Bill... Ancient William<<???>>)
That gave way for a Omega MV6 Estate, which is just known as "my van". Whether that's down to the way I treat it, or just that it's a shed on wheels. (it could have been called Rufus the Red, but that's probably too high-brow for some - King William II, 1087-1100)

I had a truck once (ERF E14 Artic Unit), which was known as either "The Nodding Donkey", or "Bale of Straw", but we won't go into those as they are boring truck related trivia.

Never raced, but sad to sat my road cars have generally had names. I currently have Becky BMW and Sally Citroen.

Previously I've had Vicky Volvo and Sam Skoda. The Talbot Sunbeam was just known as Sunbeam.

My unreliable Renault 5 was generally called something beginning with B.
