Do me a favour - Advert break, NOW!!!

Thanks must go to ITV for placing that stunning selection of adverts bang in the middle of the best 10laps of f1 in recent years... leaving us on the last lap when they ended.

Oh look, 3 mins later another advert break.

Was it just me or did anyone else nearly throw the TV through the window as those adverts came on??

Absolutely outrageous. As my father said, they wouldn't cut to a break as Beckham stepped up to take a penalty, would they?

Did anyone notice a strange lack of adverts during the middle of the race, when not much was happening?

Grrrr.

Can someone please provide a list of all the advertisers in that break?

I am thinking a national boycott of all their products. Get the motoring press on board & see what's what. I am guessing most of those companies have no involvement in F1 and are leapfrogging its popularity.

while appreciating that itv have to show a certain amount of ads in an hour they relly should have picked their moment better, the real kick in the teeth for me was they had another ad break on the slowing down lap, why not just have a longer break after the race had finished.

Absolutely ludicrous from ITV, that.

There is a set number of breaks they take during a race, so poor of the director to wait so late to take that one.

Clearly they've had complaints already - Jim's just said they're going to show us the whole of the last three laps....

Shocking. Just shocking. They are showing a re-run of the last 3 laps now but it doesn't matter. If they would have had the sense to not show any commercials at that time this wouldn't need to happen.

Why show the viewers what they want when money can be made?

They could have waited another three minutes! Although as I'm typing they're playing back the last three laps. Trying to prevent a backlash perhaps? Well, I think I'm still gonig to send an email to ITV!

I'm currently writing a severely p*ssed off email to ITV, but interestingly enough when you click 'Contact Us':

"ITV-F1 website is currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please visit us again soon."

I sincerely hope that this is due to the number of people complaining about an absolutely disgusting, crass piece of commercial cowardice. Repeating the last three laps merely rubs in the fact that the viewer plays a distant second to the advertisers.

I know that a commercial channel has to sell ad time, but to do it at that point is nothing short of appalling. Everyone must write to ITV to make sure this bullsh*t doesn't continue.

That just soured the experience of watching one of the best Grands Prix in years.

Well that is the first F1 race I have watched in over a year and it will be the last one. To cut to the ads in the last 4 laps is disgraceful. No point in showing them now as we all know the outcome.

I had that problem, gi_gav, but if you persevere, you'll get through eventually. Let's hope plenty of people make their dissatisfaction known.

I presume you were watching on TSN. We could hear the engines but no commentary at some points.

I phoned ITV on 0870 6006766 ( this number is open until 10pm tonight) to complain and their attitude was to say the least 'tough luck'

Didn't ITV miss the finish of a race once after taking an ad break about half an hour before the end?

(France 2003 IIRC)

ITV showed utter contempt for the viewers. It was obvious, when they came back from the ad break after the finish, that they knew they'd done wrong by the fact that they showed the last three laps.

They've been broadcasting Formula 1 for long enough now not to make such a crass error. As was said before, Why worry about the viewers when their's money to be made.

Absolutely and utterly frustrating.........totally broke the momentum at the end of the race.

2 ad breaks in the space of about 5 mins........no slowing down lap either.

It's no use showing the laps after the race has finished.
