Kirkistown
We went to Kirkistown for the 1st time last weekend and all I can say is - if you get a chance to go there - GO!
Fast circuit, great racing, diner with good food AND chairs and tables...! All the marshals are really friendly and make you feel welcome and we had a really great day. If anyone from Kirkistown is subscribed here - THANKS GUYS!!! and hopefully you'll have us back again |

That's good to hear, even though I can't see myself making it in the near future. One thing I'm curious about though, does good food in a diner normally preclude the provision of chairs and tables? Just curious really

Well you have to remember my circuit experience has been limited to Mondello - which currently does not have a restaurant - only a burger bus - less than affectionatly referred to as the "fungus bus". There are no sit down facilities for marshals to have their lunch. If it's really peeing down and it's a quiet day, they'll let us sit in the Media centre - but that's only if there are no media..!
Marshals are barred from the bar as they seem to feel we make a mess and we don't buy any drinks (the mess that got us barred consisted of a crisp packet, which we still believe belonged to a small child sitting at the table behind us!) So yes, food that tastes good, doesn't give you the runs for three days afterwards, is reasonably priced, and provides sit down facilities to eat it is pretty much a luxury where I come from! Oh and don't forget - you can get the ferry to Belfast and then it's about an hour's drive to the circuit from there - so it's not THAT difficult to get to! |
