Space frame using existing roll cage
Space frame using existing roll cage
I currently have a monocoque chassis Skyline with an intricate 4130 roll cage. I am investigating space framing the chassis to facilitate a few design ideals, namely accessibility, better component placement (engine, gearbox, seat) and so on. However as the current roll cage is already in place I would rather not throw it away. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on building the space frame around the existing roll cage? Obviously things like the footings are fixed and would have to tie into some kind of chassis tube/bar. The car is also 4WD so I have nasty things like front axles to content with. Any examples of front axle space framing? |
