We are new to karting, and I hoping some of you experts can give us some advise.
Which chassis should we go for ?
I have been offered a Tony Kart is this a good choice for a beginner?

If you have been offered it then yes, they are good chassis. Not particulary common in Cadets but do very very well all round in other higher formulas. Most common chassis in cadets seems to be Zip, however so long as the Tony Kart is straight and undamaged then yes, its a good chassis

My nephew has been racing very sucessfully in F6 Honda Cadets and uses a Project one Chassis.
All the top runners use these, although there is a MS Kart that features well. Never seen a Tony Kart in this class.

it also depends on what class he is going to be in? Honda cadet? Then you should go for the Project 1. WTP you should go for a mari chassi. But you cant really go wrong with a tonykart in any class it seems. Hell when i did prokart (when there were 30 on the grid at f6) i was always in the top 10 on my tonykart

Find out what class you are planning to race in

One downside to the Tony Karts and sister chassis' are the parts are very expensive. But in cadet it shouldnt be quite such a problem as the rougher senior classes

I was new to Karting with my son in Cadets last season, personally I bought him a decent ARC chassis instead of one of the high flying ones, they need to learn alot in their 1st season and I doubt very much if a 9 year old kif can start, learn his craft and be able to see the difference between one chassis and another in the course of a season, and it's likely to get bent, unless it's a good deal buy something that he can improve upon and then buy a decent chassis when he's at the point that the chassis is holding him back and not his driving.
