Loki05 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Will the BA's and VY's be ready for Albert Park

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that the new cars in particualr the BA's wernt gonna be ready untill late Feb, Albet Park is on the 9th.

Does this mean that all teams will be running in 2002 liviry and those yet to make their announcments will not compete?

How can they run in 2002 livery. Sponsorships change says no but maybe teams like Johnson may well do. DJR may run both AU's at the GP meet as maybe will other teams.

I guess if the cars are ready then they will run them if not they will stick with the Au's and Vx's.

remember to once a team uses a new model they are not allowed to revert back to the old one unless the destroy the new one I guess , so I think quite a few will start with the old ones and try and get the new ones sorted as quickly as possible

I'm not sure about not being able to use old cars after new one raced but Commodores cannot use last years engine after they run this years one in the VY.

I am wondering if any parity testing has been done yet comparing the VX to the VY and AU to BA, considering a lot of VX's and some AU's will be running for a while this year.

Yes, there has been a whole heap of aerodynamic tests on the BA and VY, with both makes finally signing off on it. I think Marcus is right, once you've used a new model, you cannot go back.

I think if they can't get enough kits for Melbourne, teams might have to rock up with some home made contraptions... who knows? How hard is it to make a spoiler?

100% right Marcos you can not go back to old car if you have started in new one, or when you change to new one.

Crash, I was referring to tests between the VX,VY and AU,BA as there will be both models running at least in the early rounds.

Ingall's car would have to be ready. He has nothing else to drive.

All good points but I just realised something.

I first stated that I thought they might not be ready by Albert Park on Feb 9, Im an idiot because Albert Park is on March 9, the Champ Car season starts in Feb, I was getting confused.

Sorry guys, please dont judge me, I was half asleep. LOL

Why can't you revert back to the old VX after you have run a VY unless it is damaged?

If drivers could switch back, they'd start out with a VY, but when they find it is a lemon, they would go straight back to the VX- somebody probably wants as many new cars on the grid as possible.

Mark Webber has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
If you can use the old cars after using the new one's where does that leave Bessy at the moment Seton & clowndes where to use the BA's that must mean Bessy can not use an AU?
is that right !

Nono, I think the deal is that a team can start out with a BA/AU, but they can't go back to AU/AU

I can't say i agree with the rule. Shouldn't a team be able to race whatever package they think will be most competitive for them. eg...Perkins at Bathurst in 1996.

My opinion is that seeing this is the supposed showcase of Australian Motorsport, all teams should be running the latest cars from the first round of the championship. If they don't run a current car they go to the Konica Series.

What happens if we have another big accident in round 2, just like Bargs last year? if a driver writes-off their new VY i think they should be able to race a VX, at least until the VY is repaired.

Daria- I think they'd make provisions for special circumstances like that.

I'm pretty sure Ingall's BA will be ready. Ten interviewed Stone about the China race on Sports Tonight. In the background there was a BA racecar. It might have been a showcar, but it looked legit, and was in Caltex colours. And I've gotta tell you the Caltex livery looked hornacious!

I think the show car is out and about, away from the workshop atm. I know that DJR's first BA is well on the way, and they've had that since November..

Briggs will definitely have one car ready for the GP and one possibly ready (they are working to have it there).
