Yeh basically they've announced that the A1 Ring will be officially reopened for 2011 as the 'Red Bull Ring'. I think they're using it for the DTM. But instead of it just being the original A1 Ring layout, they've reintroduced some of the Osterreichring, believe it or not. Just before Turn 2, the track turns off in to a hairpin left, drops back down hill in to a new complex, then back up hill in to turn 2 of the original Osterreichring (with run off etc i'm guessing). Then there's a silly chicane they're building, then it's back on to the A1 Ring and it rejoins after the original turn 2 (hairpin right).
Looks pretty good to me! Selby |

yeah, gimmicky curves along what would otherwise be the top straight aside, it's a pretty nice layout.
I think I have an old design of my own for the Osterreichring around here somewhere... edit: Here it is. A bit more straightforward that the actual new circuit but alot faster. Not sure why the image got so scratchy though. Last edited by Helicon_One; 27 Oct 2010 at 06:49. |
