I've done this thread for no reason
But this thread is devoted to the Brazilian who usually made a mark on the back rows of the F1 grid and he also won very few fans especially Martin Brundle but on this thread we want to you to tell you the best memories of Ricardo on this thread! RICARDO ROSSET (Brazil) F1 career 1996 FOOTWORK 1997 LOLA (Only 1 GP) 1998 TYRRELL |

in F1 ..not much really..but i have pointed this out before ..Ricardo was quite good in F3 and F3000 in fact he finished 2nd or 3rd in the F3000 series in 1995 ..how he could be so good in those classes and then just not cut the mustard in F1 is beyond me ..but he was/is a decent driver and can always tell his granchildren that he has been a F1 driver which is more than what I will ever tell my grandkids about my racing career.
so I salute the guy for making it to the top and enjoying his time there |

Sorry, my comment (such as it was!) was rather unfair on the guy.

1996 was beaten 16-0 by Jos Verstappen during qualifying
1998 The incident with Jaques in Monaco(after replacing Jos before the season started causing uncle Ken(Tyrrell) to quit 1 year early) so no positive things to say about Rosset |

Ricardo Rosset... well... I will always remember the time during Monaco qualifying I believe it was in 1998 when he tried to drive through a gap in the armco barrier... But like Marcus said, he's made it to F1 - we haven't. |

I remember when one of the Tyrrell mechanics changed his name on his scooter in the pitlane to read Ricardo ****** instead of Ricardo Rosset! Very clever...
The Monaco incident in the armco was his one moment of genius, not even Senna could have done that! Inch-perfect. Last edited by Old Hairpin; 30 Dec 2001 at 15:15. |

Anyway ..I may have changed my mind...just 20 mins ago was playing GP2 and decided to drive the hopeless 1997 Lola and was trying just to qualify the damm thing..there I was on a hot lap with just minutes to spare when who should run me off the track ??? Yes my own team mate Ricardo Rosset ..thanks alot pal ...BTW I failed by 2 tenths to qualify at melbourne ...GGRRRRRRR |

Ricardo is a much more talented driver than he was allowed to show in F1.
Anyone capable of dominating an F3000 meeting the way he did at Silverstone in 1995 quite obviosly has a talent for driving. Sadly for Ricardo, his F1 chances were with very poor teams, incapable of running one car competitively, let alone 2. Ricardo was always a charing gentleman to speak to, I believe he is now running the family business back in Brasil. |

For some reason the Brazilians with the first name of Ricardo have not been able to do in F1 what they were expected.
Something I remember is that once in Monaco Villeneuve was on his flying lap (97?) improving his time in the first 2 sectors only to find Ricardo in his way who had spun and crashed....LOL |

Is it really worth using up energy to write about one of the worst drivers in the world?
I think not!! |

Then why did you?
I used to quite like Rosset. True, he wasn't God's gift to F1, but he wasn't exactly blessed with good cars: '96 Footwork, '97 Lola and '98 Tyrrell. I remember him being really good in F3000 in 1995 (runner up to Sospiri I believe), but like so many others...... |
