Frankie beats them all!

Chili's clung on for the pole at Assen, over a tenth clear of Toseland. Vermuelen, Nannelli (?) and Bussei (??????) are next up, with Haga down in 10th - thanks to http://www.motorcycle-usa.com for these times:

1. Pierfrancesco Chili (Ducati) 2:03.953
2. James Toseland (Ducati) 2:04.080
3. Chris Vermeulen (Honda) 2:04.292
4. Gianluca Nannelli (Ducati) 2:04.314
5. Giovanni Bussei (Ducati) 2:04.394
6. Regis Laconi (Ducati) 2:04.544
7. Garry McCoy (Ducati) 2:04.769
8. Marco Borciani (Ducati) 2:04.783
9. Troy Corser (Petronas) 2:04.998
10. Nori Haga (Ducati) 2:05.110

Hmm Chili on pole, but will he finish the races from where he starts? My money is once again on Toseland doing the business. Good to have Laconi back down in 6th, Ive got nothing against the guy but whats bad for Laconi is good for Toseland...

I understand that Italian Superstock driver Perilli Alessio has died in a crash.

very nasty crash

He fel off his bike, rolled back on to the track where he was hit by an other bike. They tried to save him in the track and in the local hospital, but the damage was to great and he died in hospital.

On the big screens there was a very short shot of him motionless next to his bike, most of us on the grandstand gave him up after seeing that

He just was too motionless if u know what i mean.

I know exactly what you mean. It's the most sickening sight in motorsport.

God bless.

It's a grim reminder that there's only so much that can be done for safety in bike racing - incidents like that can never really be avoided whatever the features of the bikes and circuits.
