Sidecars
I saw a little bit of sidecar racing last night from eastern creek in Australia and it got me thinking.
Is the sidecar world championship still going and if so why dont we hear anything about it ??? I might be wrong but I believe it used to follow the Grand Prix circus , but for a few years now I havent heard anything about it at all. they provide some great racing and it would be a blast to have a go in the sidecar I reckon. so does anyone know any info on this series ??? |

I believe there is still a sidecar series, but it's just not getting much recognition nowadays.
I'll have a look around for any page... |

It is still very active, with some new regulations downsizing to 1000cc engines and less modification allowed as they are trying to get more engine manufacturer support.
The top world cup outfits are capable of top speed of 270-280kmh at tracks like Monza. I'm just into my second season as a passenger on a short F1 outfit in NZ,I've raced off road and a 250 superkart and nothing matches drifting the outfit through the corners while hanging off the side with another outfit inches away! |

SPman,I swing for Kelly Gates although we stacked the outfit at last club day so she is in plaster for 6 weeks with a fractured ankle, which means we miss the SI rounds of the nationals.
Last year it was for Phil Garret but he was a bit to serious for me,although a second in the NZGP at the home track was pretty cool, when you consider we were running a 20yr old outfit and engine. You race one of these as well? Marcus if you ever visit NZ I wil organise a ride for you! you to moto1 you big girls blouse lol |

We posed for that one normally the chair wheel wouldn't be quite as high and I'd have my weight further out.
avsfan at one of our novice days the guys must of taken out 20-25 people and everyone of them loved it,it is nowhere near as bad as you think although with the novices they only run 1/2-2/3 throttle,we're all quite normal really we are! |

Well I also run a 250 superkart but the sidecar beats it hands down for fun factor, bit more physical as well.
I lap 10 sec a lap faster than the quickest outfit in the kart, but I'd rather race the chair. The exchange rates good come over for a holiday and I'll get you out on one! |

Most people we take out last 2 laps before the arms pump up because they hold on to tight, but no one has got sick, although a couple have gone down the track.
No one races moto x sidecars here, but if they did you can be sure I'd have a go at it,trying to line up a go on a speedway chair at the moment. Did you go to Wanganui SPman ? I'm hoping to do that meeting next year, they put about 3-4 of them upside down in various races, with only minor injuries, and that may mean I get a ride when they come South. Dunno who won Taupo and can't find any results anywhere, one of the guys from here reckoned it was pretty good but I didn't ask who won,be hard work on that track, hopefully the extension they've got planned go ahead. |
