Formula Saloons Brands 31st August
There's a little competition on the Formula Saloons web for some free tickets and goodies, with a little question that needs answering to enter into the spirit of things. Please don't publish the answer on the Forum, just send an email to Garry to enter.
Lets see how far back some of the memories can go for this one. So far there are 25 confirmed entries for the meeting (31st August) but it is anticipated we will have a 28 car grid, at least for the first race...lets hope we dont lose too many cars in the first race so we have a 28 grid for the second race of the day. check it out: www.formulasaloons.com |

But how many entries are ST? What's the record for the ST grid? I think it was 12-13 cars?

Garry, do you count Jim Pocklington and Nigel Bowen as ST's ?, if so from your list earlier does that not make it 14 ST's.

I am only counting class B cars as St's. Nigels is Jim's isn't, so that make 13.

Just for the record...Jim Pocklington's car is an ST but owing to originality and weight, he runs in Class C, so technically the are 14 st's

Not a good day though for poor Peter Thurston who was rammed by Mr.Hales apparently going into Paddock. The impact broke the rear wheel on Thurston's car leaving him a high speed passenger into the tyre wall, he was ok but the car is a write off and he will be out of racing for the rest of the year. The 2nd race was very good.

I saw the above crash, I thought that Chesters Camero was responsible, was he excluded ?, if not why not, the Primera of Hales looked imaculate in the pit lane at the lunch interval, went back later as the team were shoveling gravel out of the car looking worse for wear, saw both Hale and Thurston deep in conversation (very good naturered) looking at Thurstons car. Shame on you Chester !!
Snapper Baz if you have any pictures could you post them. Otherwise great races well supported |

I was a surprise visitor at Brands yesterday and I would like to say that I loved the Saloon races. I've never been to Brands Hatch before and I had a really nice time.
I'm delighted to say that Gerry Marshall posed especially for me with the fantastic picture Andrew Kitson did for him. As soon as the pictures are developed, I will post them on here. Stephen - I was wandering around looking at the feet of all the marshals in case there was something in red trainers there and I didn't see you I saw a cuddly monkey in a marshal's outfit at the exit of Druids though. |

Thanks to Brands' wonderful PA system, I never found out why Ric Wood and Michael Woodcock retired from race 1 - both while leading. Can anybody supply the answer please.
Pity about Peter Thurston's crash. I watched him coming sideways out of Druids every lap during a Ford saloon race at the FF Festival last year - great fun. Last edited by Alfaholic; 1 Sep 2003 at 19:05. |

Rics car had a driveshaft flange break, the spare is at the machinists being used as the template for the new ones.
Michaels car seems to be an engine failure. Hope that helps |
