Nope, just optimised for the straight, not the twisties.

You'll tend to see a bigger spread of straight-line speeds here than at any other track on the calendar.

Mainly due, of course, to the choice of going low downforce and quick on the straight, or higher downforce for the infield.

Interesting to see both Saubers so high on that list. The Toyotas seem to be fairing quite well as well. Who else was surprised to see a Mercedes engine 4th?

Raikkonen was experimenting with VERY low downforce to cope with the down on power Merc engine.

Well, Mark is supposed to have an exclusive new improved updated engine in his Jaguar compared to the old block in Klien's car, so i would expect his car to be quicker...?

Guys I would not worry too much about top speeds. Trimming off wing will give more on top speeds than will an improvement in hp. What is concerning is that they are not any faster in the slower parts of the track. The low top speeds tell me that they are running more wing. The car is obviously hard to drive, or to set up as evidenced by his off, again.

Look at the company that surrounds Webbers top speeds, eg. Sato who was third.

Sauber having the Ferrari power are always likely to feauture in the top half when it comes to top speeds but i guess BMW and MERC will be saving their engines as the last sector is quite harsh on engines

But its not just power determining the speed trap numbers, having the aerodynamics of a housebrick like a 2004 Minardi will need 1,000bhp to overcome....

Yeah..Ferrari seem to run a decent amount of downforce to be fast in the straight yet respectable in the in-fields..

Yeh, as for the new and improved engine for Mark, he's slowest out of all 3 drivers. (Jag)

I think Boots was referring to Massa.

In any case it's a bit churlish.

I think that JPM was quite lucky going into the head wind down the straight....2.5 meters per second, others had 5 meters per second on their laps.
