What did you think of this year?
I sure think it was. Honestly, there wasn't a single good story besides Mark Martin and Montoya this year. With record amounts of S&Ps in all 3 series, titles in all 3 series locked up, and the entire rule farces, I'm not excited at all for next year. They better change lots of stuff.
You now know my opinion, but how about you guys? What did you all think? |

I enjoyed the season up until the chase started - enjoyed watching Ambrose mix it with the big boys...

I've liked it quite a lot actually. As for the Chase, it's been kinda 'meh'.
Until what just happened at Texas, that is |

*Hi 5* The irony is that the chase bored me to tears, until now that is.

more mediocre than last year.
being the optimist that i am, i expect more mediocreness for years to come. but yeah, mark martin's year has been fantastic, but...well, i'll wait til this year is actually over to form an opinion on how fantastic his year actually was (or will be). |

it was mark martin's "best year of (his) life."
i am still wondering if this "historic year" is good or bad for the sport. BAD for me, at least. |

Well, I'd like to say it was bad, but I watched more Nascar this year than in the past 5 years. JPM, Mark Martin, and Stewart-Haas were terrific story lines.

Ambrose 1st full cup season was encouraging (But then again so was his first busch season.. )
JPM's Chase form was nice to see but im hoping they don't put him in robot mode untill the Chase come 2010. All the Ford Teams not only struggled but really sucked this year, Chevy & Toyota always seemed to be fighting for 90% of the wins.. HMS Dominating wasn't good for entertainment. |

I think the problem is the COT. I enjoyed the road races this year, but the roundys just left me cold. They can't seem to sell tickets, and the banter from NASCAR central was old two years ago. With everyone driving the same tin can, there is no brand identity, no chance to modify something, somehow, to go faster. I think NASCAR overspecified themselves right into boredom.

I enjoyed it generally. As a JPM fan it was exciting too.
Some really bad races in amongst it though. Then again, you'd be hard pressed to find a series that doesn't these days. |

I became a fan this year, like most racing you need someone to follow or it's just cars going past. JPM gave me an "in" to the story and over the year I've gradually learned who all the other drivers are and found an appreciation of oval racing.
Like Knowlsey said there were a few dull races but on the whole I really enjoyed it. Feb can't come soon enough.. |

I'd give it 7.5 out of 10.Need a few more road courses. JJ, Martin, Monty, Ambrose and Stewart.
More of the same with Monty getting plenty of wins in 2010. |

Hmm. It seems like only the North Americans are unhappy with Nascar, but fans elsewhere have enjoyed the year. Maybe we could all learn a lesson from the fans across the pond.

Guess we have only seen NASCAR since 2000, not the glory years of earlier like most North Americans...

honestly...the longing for old glories is never a good thing. i long for something that is interesting and exciting. NASCAR has become very bland, and like my foriegn comrades, i have found that the likes of JPM and Taz do make the series a bit more interesting...however, this thrill can't last too terribly long as we continue down the path of fabricated close finishes, bland new tracks, robotic F-1 driver like interviews, and bonehead excutive decisions.

I thought the late '80s into the mid '90s were great, but that's like, my opinion man.

I think there were a lot of decent races this year, but a bit too few really great ones. And yes, Mark Martin was great.
