Safty harness

if you have a big impact, does the safty harness stretch and would it need replacing even if you cant see any physical damage to it ?

If its been a big shut you might need to replace your seat as well, or at least get it checked by someone.

Belts can stretch up to 4" in a 30mph shunt and I don't think their elasticity returns completely, so anything substantial and I would replace, yes.

woody, yes you will find it in the Blue Book, cant remember where but it is there, in the same sort of area as rep[lacing helmets after a shunt. How many people honestly do replace belts though? I know we have, but also know lots of others who don't.....

it kinda raises other questions, such as should u replace them if you have just bought the car from someone.
And also how hard of an impact should warrant a new harness?

Hiya Woody!
Yes, I would... not worth risking it for the sake of a new one. (especially the way I drive!)
If you can, go for 3" belts they're far more comfortable -and safer as they spread the load over a wider area.
