Mixed Surface Rallies

I see from this weeks Autosport Dave Richards wants to bring back mixed surface rallies back into the WRC.

It will be nice to see them back, as I belive these rallies will give the drivers a bigger test than the current ones on the world championship............

I'd love to see mixed surface rallies back in the championship, particularly the San Remo rally. The cars would really slide around on the tarmac with gravel-type tires. Would be great to watch!

Yes, yes, yes. Mixed surface rallys. A better test of a driers skill. More for them to cope with and teh possibility of comprimise set-ups (?).

WRC is in danger of bevoming too easy! While they are at it could they make them longer and also get rid of repeated stages?!

imull has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
lets have some night stages, will also solve a lot of the speccy problems... people wont take little jonny and half of his class out for a 3am stage!

The World Rally Commission met in August to discuss the reintroduction of mixed surface rallies but threw the idea out, so apart from Germany with it's dusty tarmac I don't see it happening.

Catalonia Rally was proposing mixed surface for 2003 but some teams (e.g. Peugeot) were objecting to mixed surfaces and it now seems to late to make the changes for 2003.

Story from http://www.worldrallynews.com
