Super Formula Jedi
I think it's time to have a new thread, the Croft results one has had its time surely.
As for the title, no it's not a new formula, just what I think about the cars!! I have just found out from Silverstone that the 2 day meeting is definitely Saturday & Sunday, 29 & 30 May and it is on the National Circuit. 30/31 May has been quoted and the Inter circuit too. Also, they tell me that there will NOT be testing on the Friday before which will make things interesting for Silverstone newcomers like us. Any suggestions for gearing (sensible of course)? See y'allat Snett a week earlier. |

mike i last ran snett gearing there, and found it good. but i was trying to concentrate on getting my soap box round the bends....... but apparently it is meant to be shorter than that... don't need to test there it's like a motorway.....easy.

I run snet gearing their too, I checked with the BRSCC and pleaded to get the garages as there are a few of them but no avail. There is a huge Sports 2000 meeting and the garages have been allocated to them; so bring your marques and tents. See you all in Norfolk next weekend.

i've just heard some very sad news, unfortunately Kat Impey won't be running at snett. Due to some probs with the team, but she will hopefully be out again soon.

Come on Johnson, that's F Fords you are thinking about, not sensible well-mannered Jedi drivers.

There should be testing on the Friday as they normally make provision for it. Worth giving them a call though.
Unfortunately we wont make testing but have received race entry confirmation for both Snett and Silverstone. Looks like we may have a super full grid Silverstone gearing is very close to Snett. Only a tooth down on the back I think (R1 engine). If anyone needs any ballast, Ive had some 1kg lead bars (about size of avg mobile phone) made up....absolutely superb quality. Will have some spare, so come and see car 21 if you need any this year. I was suprised how close I was to the weight limit after qualy at Croft especially as I have the extra fuel tank, so I need to add between 3-5kg's to be safe. Make sure you guys get weighed at some point as you'll be suprised how light the cars (and drivers) can be. See you all at Snett. Last edited by ActiveMS; 14 May 2004 at 13:02. |

Its that tin of larger you carry around Jonathan! It all wieght.
Phoned Snett with regards to Friday testing , we get 55mins track time @ £200. My pilot distroyed his engine second race at croft , including a very expensive head! Hope to have new motor ready for Thursday night, but gonna be tight. See yea all there |

Planning on getting the car weighted at snett when totally dry to give me a better idea of the actual weight, as fuel consumption varies so much depending on track.
RFS, have you managed to get the old one rebuilt or have you sourced an alternative? Im still on my spare and it looks to stay that way until at least Brands..... huf. |

RFS - you sure about the track time? It's normally 4 X 50 min or so sessions . 55mins for £200? That's a joke. Did you know the circuit is open for testing on the Thursday too?
Active, unless things have changed Snet has the most inaccurate scales of all the cirucits. Last year they were 7-8 Kg out. |

Well you would think so but, as Chris Judge will confirm, we have queried them before. From recollection they read heavy, which meant anyone with ballast could take it off and still seem OK. Those who had no ballast would seem to be quite a bit above the limit but would have no way of reducing the weight!
That is a while ago, they may have sorted them out, but check it out! |

Hopefully I can get it sorted after I get back after a weekend break on Wednesday. Apparently the double header snet meeting is all being done on the Saturday. Should make the day interesting!! See you early Saturday. |

200lb rear springs seem to be the norm with a few people who have gone up to 225lb. what else have you tried to cure your understeer?

have tried:
stiffening up the front ( to try and reduce roll car was very very soft when i first got it) Tires front wing checked toe in/out, squared up all the car now, corner wieghts only other real thing is caster, jon said the steering arm pick ups have got a 5 degree set in them and they should run parrallel to the ground but both mine and my dads are about the same (pointing down) so i decided to leave it. Really need to go and do a test day but no way in the world can i afford it on my wage!!!! it's a real pitty both races arn't on sat i could of gone to mallory on sunday and done two races there....would have been a good weekends racing!!! |

Croft engine totally shot. Pilot tells me it let go at the end of the straight. I'am thinking he may have dropped it down a cog a tad early! Rod gone thro' the side. Took out 5 valves and one cam shaft. Head and block shot! Gonna be down on HP next weekend and run a straight R1 with flat slides. Whats the cost? £650 for a engine plus bits still makes it a real cost effective series. Pilot did the same trick previous in his T-car at Snett with a 16 valve GM 1600 and it cost £4500 at Minster for a re-build. That can really upset the weekend! |
