flying muppet should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Oulton Park - 23/24 April

A new timetable for this FPA meeting has recently been released.

The Maranello Challenge Ferrari races have been 'merged' with the Global GT Lights - that will be fun; they could be the 'Little and Large' races ...

It's on the long track and I assume they will start split grids so they ought to be able to spread out. Off the top of my head the performance difference shouldn't be that great...

This actually looks like a very good meeting.

It appears to be about the same quality as the F3 meetings (But without the F3's!!)

Flying Muppet - what are the Marshalling numbers looking like, considering it's the full circuit?

Sorry; crystal ball has suffered a power failure.

Also, just to re-iterate again, the Ferraris and Global GT Lights have been un-merged (at MSV's request, not by BRSCC) causing the 0830 start.

See you then!

MM's link above to the provisional timetable NOW shows the new timetable (version 7).

What version will we be on by Friday afternoon?

Any ideas why MSV requested this? At the risk of opening a huge can of worms, is it anything to do with them?

Yes, it is. It is a meeting they are promoting. I can only speculate as to the reasons for the change: I suspect it is because a mixed race is harder to sell and more confusing for punters.

Sorry but I would rather see a full grid of mixed cars than two tiny grids of single type cars. MSV should think about what they are doing.

They have, and made a decision (although if for the reasons given above I do not know). Even if they had taken part in the same race it would have been from two separate grids almost certainly, not one mixed one.

Sorry, but I can't buy that theory - they're not selling the race, they're selling the meeting. In particular with this meeting they'd be selling the FPA series as a headline act, probably just with the others as "support races". I doubt they'd be any mention of a joint race or otherwise in any publicity for the event. I know you're speculating only though Ian!
I'm wondering in particular if there's technical circuit reasons required for the change (little and large together!) - although if that was the case it would be an issue for the OC surely?

That, to me, is good news & bad news! I'm happy not to have the F3s, but we also lose the GTs, which is a shame.

Take a look at your final instructions.....there's a list of those who've volunteered on there!

The changes also mean that both the Global Lights & the Maranello Challenge now have their two races on the same day; may be significant, possibly not.........

I'll check to see what the Autosport ad last week looked like...

Joe Public: "So, that's a Ferrari... but what's that funny looking thing? And why are they racing together?"

For new spectators, two grids on track at the same time would not be a good thing.

Of course my speculation could be way out - I would suspect we will never know!

just hope theres decent size grids for the ferraris and global lights otherwise why split them? poor grids would be guaranteed way to put spectators off not to mention marshals & especially on international circuit! if small grids given the earlier start we'll be able to have a sleep to catch up between each lap!

Could be the drivers objected

Ferrari drivers might get a tad miffed to be beaten by them little buzzy things

Global Lights drivers might well object to running with Ferraris - if there is a coming together the lightest car will probably come off worse and also would a Global Light following Ferrari register in the Ferrari rear view mirror?

According to the on line final instructions on the BRSCC website, there are 10 Ferraris in the Maranello challenge, and 8 Global GT Lights. That was dated 13 April.
