He didn't crash in the race at Monaco 2002, but yeah, it did put him out of the race.

Interesting question though. Off the top of my head I can't remember. Just goes to show the calibre he has.

The only times i recall Jenson Button crashing out during the race was in Imola 2000, Hungary 2001/2002 and Melbourne 2002...

The rest were engine failures, oil leaks (mostly with Benetton), oil pressure problems, hydraulics, etcetera...

Monza 2000 was an oil pressure problem in the 16th lap.
Forgot Brazil 2003!

Monza 2000 was where he smashed into the guardrail under the safety car and broke his suspension.

Remember, it was when Schuey slowed the pack heading towards the parabolica.

It was Brazil 2003. In 2002 he had 3 crashes/spins, in 2001 2 and in 2000 1.

Brazil 2003 was wet, and he was in good company in going off in turn 3. Melbourne 2002 was the first corner pile-up which certainly wasn't his fault. He hasn't had any crashes you can blame him for for over 2 years, which is an amazing record. No doubt Frank's noticed this.

Yes he's a reliable driver that's for sure.Combine that with speed and you definitely know you wouldn't regret signing such a driver.

And no-i had NO clue when his last crash was.If it was the one in 2000 i'd be stunned

Crashing in the race is fairly uncommon for all.

Its rare for an F1 driver to make a mistake that causes a crash, its nearly aways a mechanical failure that results in the crash.

Despite all the electronic gizmos, credit to the drivers for being so skilled!

We could have this debate about any of the top drivers.

Crashes are very uncommon.

I thought about Button because I honestly couldn't remember when he last crashed in a race. Even Michael Schumacher had one at Monaco this year! The only other driver I can think of who was as reliable as Button was Mika Hakkinen who's last race crash was at Monza in 1999 I believe. I guess that's one thing that people often don't mention about the 'good old days' - the leader was more likely to crash!

If we're talking about driver error crashes then you're right, Mika hardly ever had them.

He did have a broken suspension which caused a shunt in Australia 2001, but it was very rare for him to bin it.

Kimi Raikkonen similarly does not often crash.

Given the river running across the track last year if you kept it on the black stuff was more down to luck than ability. His last crash due to driver error ie his own fault down to him without help from others was Melbourne.

I think the theory is if Michael and Juan among others get caught out in thoose conditions then it wasn't a rookie error.

Yeah, I think he's okay though. Very scary stuff - it was just like Mansell at Australia in 1986

Damn, guess I jinxed him with this thread.

Right, that's the end of this thread. Frankly I'm not impressed that anyone woudl drag it back up - it seems like gloating and flaming.
