New forum - Photography

Hi Craig,

How about a 'Photography' forum?

There are a few of threads dotted around the place dedicated to the subject, but I think it would be useful to have a proper home for these sort of threads.

I'd love to learn photography, and we seem to have a large number of people on the boards that do it at all levels, so it would be excellent to have a place for more discussion.

Any thoughts?

sounds good, yeah there seems to be a lot of people interested in photography and theres certainly a lot to learn and tips to exchange etc.

I'm all for photography being discussed but one of the problems with such a forum would be the tendency for people to post pictures. Sorry if that sounds like I'm stating the obvious.

In the past with had problems with people linking to large images or posting multiple attachments. That's why the FAQ restricts images to 400x400 pixels in size and ask member to post them only in moderation. As we've already seen from the 2 threads in Trackside, once you get more than 3 or 4 images it does slow down loading times extensively. Remember we don't all have high-speed net connections. As we always point out, this is a discussion forum

Don't let me stop you discussing things in either Trackside but as far as a dedicated forum I think the answer will be no. That said I need to speak to Craig this weekend about a vague idea I have related to this topic.

I you're thinking what I think you're thinking then I think there may be some room to manouevre? Am I thinking correctly? (ie. set some settings in the forum setup and then do the thing I think you're thinking about to stop the thing you think people will think about doing?)

I'm willing to share any info on the racing side of things so if anyone wants any help shout-though cant see why there must be pictures posted. Was going to do a NASCAR race at Homestead next month (again!) but the wife booked the flights...we come back on the day of the race and miss all the Mini winter races...Dohhh!

You are spot on. I send the photo to Red, he puts it on his website and sends me the link, and I post the thread with the link. We've just put one in the Gravel trap called Shepherd's Hut at Falls Creek. I'll try to scan another two photos for him this arvo.
