Seat building a (new) GT car.
Seat is constructing a true car of GT, that will be the star of the next "Salón de Barcelona". Its ambition: the Fia-gt Championship and the 24 hours of Le Mans. This one car little has to do with Toledo GT seen in the Spanish Championship of Gt´s. Under the technical manual of the engineer Juan Orús, Seat Sport it has constructed a GT with much more serious aspirations: Le Mans and Fia-GT. Tubular chassis has been left from the chassis of Toledo GT seen here in Spain, being this one properly redesigned. The French company FAM, that works with Snobeck, has made a new multitubular chassis following the parameters of Seat, and basically it has extended the length and reduced the height to adapt to new bodywork.
On guard central Seat will instal V6 twinturbo, 3L. and 500hp of Toledo GT. More ahead in the time Seat Sport could to choose 3.5 L. engine.............or even Audi V8 twin-turbo engine of Audi R8. One reason more to find customers for the car. The battle of the new model has been extended more than 2,650 mm, which, together with to both meters of width and a height nonsuperior to 1,200 mm gives ideal measures him. The length near the six meters (with an important back projection that it admits a voluminous inferior aerodynamic extractor) it will attribute a aerodynamics to him equivalent to the one of the Saleen S7R. The version that will appear in Barcelona will be one more a more moderate version, will equip the V6 twin-turbo engine and agreed wheels to the regulation of the Spanish Championship, but small changes in the suspension will allow him to install the enormous wheels of 18x14´´ and their corresponding brakes for when it competes abroad. Bodywork, totally original, has taken its masterful lines of the Salsa, although the new proportions have deformed their original aspect. The nose will carry radiadore main, whose hot air will be extracted partly by the flanks and partly through the front hood. Intercooler they will go located, like in Toledo GT, in both flanks, receiving fresh air of the superior part of the pontoons. The new Seat GT will have his debut in the last race of Spanish championship in Barcelona (11th November). If all is OK then Seat could think to run international races in 2004. I have a drawing of the car in "Autopista" magazine but the pic is very big and it´s in two pages. Sorry for possible mistakes in "technical" words. Source: Autopista. |

This last one is Toledo GT, this car is running in Spain but is derived of French Silhouette Toledo. It isn´t a authentic GT car.
We will see new GT (and this yes is a autenthic GT) in "Salón de Barcelona del Automóvil", April 26th. |

Yes this appeared at the end of last year, complete with a press release from SEAT Sport.
The speil I wrote on seatcupra.net which was edited from the Spanish official release was:- Darro Motor Racing entered a SEAT Toledo GT in the last race of the Spanish GT championship a couple of weeks ago.The car, developed by SEAT Sport is based on the race winning SEAT Toledo Silhouette, seen in the French Touring car championship. The race car is equipped with a motor V6 Biturbo that renders a power superior to 470cv DMR and SEAT Sport ran test sessions at Jarama and Calafat race circuits with the assistance of Radermecker prior to its race debut. The driver pairing of Miguel Angel and Balba González Way, champions of Spain GT in 2000 also tested. Miguel Angel, commented: "the balance of the first test with the SEAT Toledo GT is very positive. By the experience which I have in GT's, the car has a very high potential and, built very well, it will give very good results." ends Not sure if the GT series regs changed in Spain,as there was talk about the car not being legal for 2003, anyway, here is a large ish jpeg with the engine cover off http://www.seatcupra.net/images/seat...oledogt002.jpg How recent is that article E46? Is it this year Last edited by andy_b; 10 Apr 2003 at 20:29. |

It's an interesting piece of kit, although externally it does look much more like a tourer than a GT- then again, BMW got away with the M3 for ages.... |

If Seat builds the car will be without doubts a good car. Toledo Gt in his first race and with only a previous test (and with 420hp only) was last November in Ferrari 360´s times:

the road version has the same basic floorpan and some parts of the Bora/Jetta. www.seat.com is the manufactures' website where you can see what the Toledo normally looks like.
E46, you have a PM |

According to dailysportscar, we might well be seeing at least a one-off appearance from SEAT in British GTs later in the year-
http://www.dailysportscar.net/news/news0360.htm E46- is the car in DSC's picture anything to do with the new SEAT GT you were describing in your first post? If so, I can't wait to see this one on the track -very nice.... Last edited by KA; 12 Apr 2003 at 09:51. |
