Donington's New Surface

A lot of you guys have had the opportunity to race on this now...do you have any opinions.
It seemed to me that when wet the GT's, the Ferrari's especially, were struggling for grip more than they should have been, to the point that I heard some of the drivers were struggling on the straights and couldn't wait to reach the corners.

In my totally amateur view Old Hairpin seems faster. Unfortunately when I raced there with the 750MC the other week the race was cancelled due to the wind. Practise did not really help as somebody had kindly deposited oil on most of the racing line, hence my knowledge is rather limited

did look greasy in the wet, but that'll probably change as more cars run on it.

Probably from all the fuel dropped by the planes that pass over head from NEMA.

Yes when wet the jet fuel rises to the surface making things very intresting 4th gear wheelspin in a ff1800!!
when dry the track is good and curbing is more friendly than it used to be, Have been told that the circuit doesnt favour New tyres as it is so grippy

I think you'll find that the oil is coming UP rather than down. Don't forget this is new tarmac and the oils in it will be seeping out for possibly over a year until there is lots of rubber down on it. Lots of rain would help to wash it out as well.

Apparently the same thing happened the last time it was resurfaced.

I think the advice I would give would be to take care when driving on it!
