Crash and Burn should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Monza getting major facelift

MONZA AUTODROME, the historic motor-racing circuit near Milan that regularly hosts the Italian Grand Prix, is a hive of activity right now as the major facelift demanded by F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone gets under way.

On Monday the podium, where bottles and bottles of champagne have been sprayed about by joyful winners over the years, came down and on Wednesday two towers which have been inexistence since 1922 disappeared.

Next in line for demolition in the $23m dollar operation are the hospitality pavilions.

Changes to the actual circuit itself have also been mooted but these would only be carried out with the approval of the world governing body, FIA.

Even more so when you look at the planes for the 'new' silverstone.

1922? History obviously means nothing, clearly. I'm surprised they haven't demolished the banking as well.

It's like UK Wembley Stadium - knock down history and start again. What a joke!

They've demolished the towers?? WHY?? WHAT FOR?? FOR WHAT PURPOSE?? What, should we take down the Tower of Pisa because "it's leaning a bit"??

It's disgusting, to be quite frank. Bits of motorsport history being lost just because Bernie wants it all looking new. Like RussianFriend said, it's going to turn into Sepang - faceless, bland, and just god-damn boring.
