Cambrian Rally Stage 4 Incident

Hi

Just returned from marshalling on stage 5, a great day despite some of the weather, and hope somebody can shed some news on crew of car that went off in stage 4, as from the radio chat it sounded a bad incident and hope that somebody can let us know that crew are both OK

Hi Gravel Monkey

Thanks for posting, It's a long time since Iwas in middle of stage, as am usually at passage control or stop line. nice change to see a bit of sideways action

Mosty of our spectators were well behaved athought did have a small group who obviusly had not done it before and thought standing at edge of road as car 0 was coming round was the right thing to do, soon put them right though,

Got most of what was happening from radio crew nearby but did not hear outcome of incident on stage 4,

Hi,

Just came across this. My sister is the girlfriend of the co-driver who was in the accident on SS4, pleased to say both Mike and the driver Nicola are ok and slowly getting better. You probably know they were airlifted to hospital and are still in for observation and more treatment, but both are recovering and everybody is pleased so far. Both spent Saturday in intensive care, the driver didn't regain conciousness until Sunday afternoon I believe.

Mike has the usual cuts and bruises, two broken bones in his hand, has had work done to repair his lip after the mic caused a nasty tear, stitches in his chin, pain in his leg so that is all stapped up, and suffered a nasty knock on the head - short term memory loss etc. He's also pretty shaken up as you can imagine.

I don't know any more about Nicola though unfortunately, I think she was taken out of intensive care on Monday, but was very upset / hysterical etc.

Hopefully, Mike will be able to leave hospital towards the end of the week.

Thanks for asking,

Matt

Hi Matt

Thanks for the update, it's nice to know that what sounded very bad on the radio has a good ending,

Did not know much about what had happened after the county fire engine was called but did see / hear air ambulance flying over Clog while was dealing with own incident, which was very minor in comparison

Thanks again and wish then both speedy recovery please
