The weekend of the 17th & 18th of March is 40 years to the day since the opening of Lakeside Raceway. The track is still owned by the same family and the grandson of the circuit's founder and original owner is now the General Manager.
The anniversary celebrations will feature some appearances by famous cars and drivers of the past. This will take place in conjunction with the State Championship meeting set down for this date. Historic Touring Cars and Improved Production Touring Cars are both expected to field grids of 20-30 cars each. I hope to be competing in my Datsun 1600 Historic Touring Car. If you're in South East Queensland, come on out for what should be a great day. Entry to the pits should be free so drop in and say Hello! |
