What about the track that already exists up there?
They ran Can-Am and Trans-Am races there. |

Edmonton International Speedway was closed in 1984 IIRC.

They always do, don't they? Brooklands, Riverside, Edmonton, soon Brands...
Northlands is kind of in the middle of the city - I wonder how they'd handle the noise? |

Just to add:
looking southeast, note the houses bordering the site: http://www.globalairphotos.com/large...ast/2001/219/2 looking southwest, a view of the whole area. http://www.globalairphotos.com/large...ast/2001/242/2 Last edited by paul-collins; 30 Sep 2003 at 21:18. |

Are those photos of the site for the proposed road course, Paul? Their website tells that they also own a horse track, casino, arena, ect.

Those are of the general vicinity of Northlands Park. You can find the same thing in Mapquest - but it shows no buildings or internal roads. It does, however, show the railway tracks (for reference).

Fantastic! Alberta's been the center of the sportscar void for too long. Im about 600km from Edmonton and if they have any sportscar race's i'll be there for sure. Actually ive been thinking about moving north to Calgary or Edmonton for a long time... this may seal the deal as they say.

Is $18 million enough to get a track built, that is up to snuff?

The strange thing is I haven't heard anything about this proposed track here at northlands. It would probally make a lot more sense for that group to invest the money into the new planned roadcourse for Budweiser Motorsports Park-it's right beside the International Airport.

There's an Edmonton near here that is ripe for redevelopment as a racetrack....
(just don't tell the residents) |
