Loeb World Record holder
By clinching the Japan Rallye, with a mere 5 seconds advantage over Gronholm, Seb Loeb has managed to score one more win than Carlos Sainz. Surely something to be highlighted here.

Well done Sebastian. In a shorter period than Sainz too. |

Impressive stuff
Gronholm was on good form again too (apart from the spin that cost him the rally!), Hirvonen seemed to be going well again - the Focus seems to be going well at the moment, it's better on the gravel events. Solberg out of luck again - he's having a nightmare of a season. |

Shame Marcus had those two spins yesterday, looked like he had the edge really.
But congratulations to Loeb, a great achievement. The guy is so complete. What a season he is having, no lower than second place all year. OK, the series isn't exactly competitive, but that is still something. He is making it all a bit boring really. |

I was watching th highlights from yesterday on Eurosport this afternoon, the took his first win in Germany in 2002, so it show's that he has been the dominate force in the WRC over the last 4 years.

Loeb is currently dominant but there is a case for saying that the WRC isn't as competitive at the moment as it has been in the past - only 2 manufacturers entered for the full program this year and how many 'big name' drivers? 3?

Loeb showed signs of this kind of thing when the series was a lot more competitive a few years ago, so the state of WRC doesn't really take away from his achievement that much, though it does make an impact on perceptions I suppose.
The problem is that Loeb is just so almost flawless. If he doesn't win, he will finish in the next best position. |

Well done Seb on breaking the record of Carlos Sainz.
BUT Sainz did it driving for four different manufacturers, in six different models, in a far more competitive era. So Loeb may have the record, but IMHO he has a long way to go yet before he can take the All-time greatest title from King Carlos. |
