NASCAR Sprint Cup round 24 - Bristol
Three races until the Chase and now we head to Bristol, for a nailbiting night race. Not the place you want to head to for guaranteed points!
Well after a tumultuous race at Michigan, things have tightened up considerably for the Chase places... Tony Stewart (721 points ahead of 13th) Jeff Gordon (437 points ahead of 13th) Jimmie Johnson (418 points ahead of 13th) Carl Edwards (216 points ahead of 13th) Denny Hamlin (207 points ahead of 13th) Kurt Busch (178 points ahead of 13th) Juan Pablo Montoya (108 points ahead of 13th) Kasey Kahne (105 points ahead of 13th) Ryan Newman (66 points ahead of 13th) Greg Biffle (42 points ahead of 13th) Matt Kenseth (32 points ahead of 13th) Mark Martin (12 points ahead of 13th) ___________________________________________________ Brian Vickers (12 points out of 12th) Clint Bowyer (58 points out of 12th) Kyle Busch (70 points out of 12th) David Reutimann (118 points out of 12th) Bring it on! |

I was looking at the Nascar website a couple of weeks ago and they were selling tickets for Bristol still! I was amazed. A couple of years ago I had to pay four times face value for tickets...
Can't wait to see this - should be an amazing race as ever. Was sat on a plane last night and decided to watch the video I'd made of the festivities at the track on my ipod. A stewardess came and asked me to turn the volume down as they could hear it three seats away. Of course I agreed... but the volume was only at 50%!! Yes, this race is LOUD! JPM has tended to be fast here. IIRC he started on the front row when I was there?? Can't wait! |

I used to feel the same way, but after they introduced the progressive banking I dunno... something got lost in that transition. Sure, the actual racing, with a bit more side-by-side etc, was improved but somehow I kinda miss the beating and banging that was more common before the revamp.

saw a race on ESPNClassic a month or so ago when it was asphalt. they never should have concreted the place, if you aks me. everyone rim ridin' up next to the wall.
so it was one lane next to the wall or one lane on the bottom...and i honestly believe i haven't had the opportunity to watch an entire race since the progressive banking. i thought it would make bristol a bit more racey instead of "chrome horn passing". |

not sure if it is live but SPEED is showing a 150 lap NASCAR modified race at Bristol
Kahne and Newman are involved, starting from the rear due to a rainout of q'ing. this is going to be wild! |
