Brodie, Dave

I'm wondering if anyone can remember Dave Brodie, who ran in the BSCC for oh so long without coming near to championship success, despite clearly having the pace in the early 70s. He ran around in early days with a Ford Escort RS 1600, but after that I can't seem to find anything.

If anyone was an avid spectator at BSCC meetings, then in the early 70s from what I can tell he was either following Dave Matthews, ahead of Dave Matthews, or out of the race!

I'd really appreciate it if people could help me out here.

Blimey! 'The Brode' did a lot more than race an Escort (Run Baby Run), he was also at the pointy end of the BTCC in the 1980's firstly with a Group A Colt Starion, then an RS500 Sierra, he even built a 4 wheel drive 2 litre Sapphire Touring Car.
A colourful character who's still around and was out racing at The Silverstone Classic a few weeks ago.

I know he raced a Stallion and won a race in 1986 (?) in a Sierra as his last win, but other than 1 book about BSCC/BTCC as a whole, I've got nothing. This website is very complicated to get results for individual drivers from, but it has good results and race reports. http://touringcarracing.net/Pages/BSCC.html

From what I've read, Brodie seems to be rapid but really luckless.
