Yup, for once the critics of Shuey are silent and if they had anything to say it would be like bucket with a hole in it "just would'nt hold water". Come on mates the guy proved why he is the best in this particular field of sport and will be for somemore time. Three cheers to the new year 2000 world champion MICHAEL SHUMACHER |

Well said!!! Michael won it in style, the only thing lacking was a perfect start, but hey maybe he was putting on a "show" for the Americans who just might be watching to see what happens after Indy!

Time and Place for everything
Now is not the time for critics to criticise TGF - I have already done so on other threads. We saw a great race and a masterful drive in slippery conditions. Now is the time to congratulate the guy on a trully great drive and let the TGF fans savour the moment. I am not a fan of TGF, but why should I , or anyone else, criticise him when he won this race fair and square? Perhaps, Stephen could explain to us why he expects anyone to criticise TGF? I can't understand this reasoning at all.

There are no critics now, only fans. A masterful performance by Schumi, and a courageous effort on Mika's part. Today Michael turned a lot of skeptics into believers, and from this day forward, no one will question his position amongst the all time greats.
PS Where has Freud gone? He appears to be awfully quiet after this race. |

I'll add my congrats to him this year. I thought he'd win it back in Australia, but my belief only wavered mid season. I thought he was to blame for his own downfall in Germany (a racing accident) but elsewhere he's proved to be the best of the bunch.
He's still not the best ever though because like Senna, he's flawed. Spinning at Indy was another good example. But. As ever it was good to see that old enthusiam and happiness on the podium. Also congrats to Mika H who behaved impeccably in defeat. |

Critics?? Never had a problem with TGF being a masterful racing driver, just with his ethics at times, but this isn't the time or place as he won the race fair and square, and has won the championship on merit. So congratulations are due, well done TGF.

Eventhough I don´t consider myself a tgf supporter, it was kind of an awkward emotion watching him winning hi´s third championship, I didn´t know wheather to cheer up or feel deeply sorry for mika, but yes michael shutted my mouth off. And yes he deserved the title.

Subliminal message: Gore is a rat!!
Jersound's comment on the TGF-bashers saying the race was rigged made me think about what I thought at the beginning of the race, when Mika got a great start and looked set to win. I was beginning to wonder if Bernie had it so the championship would go down to the last race as it had every year since 1996.

Nobody is happier than Norbert Haug!
Oh, its so wonderful to see Norbert Haug happy and relieved after such a tough season. That's why he says:

It was a superb drive complemented by Ferrari's impeccable strategy and perfect pit work when it counted most.
Michael is not without flaw -- in a race car or out. But which of the immortals was? I do believe that whatever his past sins he acquitted himself fairly at Suzuka. Also, I think that with age and a family have come a new maturity, a softening, if you will. As for Mika . . . for all his prickliness, in the end he showed himself to be at heart a man of compassion (witness post-Monza) and magnanimity toward his arch-rival. He is deserving of respect and admiration. He has worn the champion's crown very well indeed. |

Yes, you are 100 % correct about Mika showing so much magnanimity toward his arch-rival. Who can forget his immortal manouvere at Spa or that perfect qualifying lap at Imola. Even at Suzuka he started like a rocket overtaking Michael who tried his usual "blocking move" but failing miserably. After the race Mika was the second man to congratulate Michael and didnt say anything about that ugly blocking move on the Live TV conference....."A Good winner is also a good loser". Mika is the "people's champ".

I actually had to behave, I went to see the race at a friends place, and even though i've known her for month on another F1 site i had only met her in real life once, so i had to be nice and not swear too much!

I knew he'd win but I expected it to be next race. Anyway it'll be nice to have a different WDC this year and perhaps now he will get out of the way and let Rubens race like a man.
However, hearing that Italian fellow characterize him as an "Overpaid little Bavarian brat" did warm my heart.... |
