NASCAR Cup Round #24: Bristol - Irwin Tools Night Race

The fall race at Bristol is upon us...happened to see the Whelen Modifieds at Bristol on SPEED just now...good stuff.

JAYSKI

Will the repave bring back the "Old Bristol"?

Watched most of the truck race, Timothy Peters dominated leading every lap - hope cup & nationwide ain't like that.
Saying that, I love Bristol under lights - 1 day I have to go there!

Yes, Timmy led every lap, but the racing behind him was awesome. I liked Old Bristol, but I prefer New Bristol.

This track wasn't ruined in 2007 or this year, it was ruined in 1991/1992.

Getting too old for these 1 am night races lol, but I'm so curious about the 'new old Bristol' I'll at least stay up for the first 100 laps or so.

As for Danica she did well in the Nationwide race, finishing 9th, so perhaps she'll be able to grab at least a top 20 finish in the Cup race. Assuming some angry Canadian doesn't manage to hit her with his other shoe, that is

Looks like the changes didn't boost tickets sales. 130,000 fans are expected at tonight's race compared to the 156,000 that attended last year. My friend once spent $500 on a Bristol night race ticket in the lower bench seating, boy how times have changed.

I hope for a decent show tonight. Missed last nights race, but we got Michael Buffer on the mic for driver intros.

Oh boy, ESPN hyping it up from the get go. I hope for everyone's sake it gets at least a little crazy.

Edit - I guess the race has one thing going for it though and that is the wildcard battle. Carl Edwards is already desperate for a win and Kyle Busch after his near miss at Watkins Glen has to be itching to grab a victory at Bristol where he's been really good in the past. Have at it boys... please, I beg you

Yep. Lots of aluminum. Won't look good on Speedway Motorsports 3rd quarter balance sheet.

I'd say 130,000 people plus tv money will do in this economy.

Nice strike, Smoke!

I am liking the high line, the slide jobs, and the battles thus far. Don't think I care what Bristol you want to call it, this has been pretty good, and the end is going to be nuts.

Plenty of power in that helmet throw - not often you see 2 of the best take each other out... Liking the Ambrose run at the moment
The end is bound to be nuts...

Having looked through it now I'd say that was one of the best races at Bristol in a long time. Looks like the changes they made worked quite good.
