AstraTech - Data Loggers

I've just purchased a classic race car that is fitted with a AstraTech system of some description.

I see...
1 unit in the window (which obviously picks up a lap beacon)
1 metal box (about 6" x 4" x 1")
- that has a serial cable coming out of it.

There is no model number markings on any of the units.

If I post pictures of the units...

a) would anyone be able to identify it ?
b) would anyone have any operating instructions ?
c) would anyone have the software ?

thanks.

Can you post a photo?

Note that you'll need Windows XP or earlier to run the software...although it should run under Vmware player.

Hi

My unit, as a guess, probably dates from 94-98.

Track Beacon Receiver.
The unit with the label on it, has two windows on its side panel and is positioned next to the window - so that seems ok.

So the plain box with no labels seems to be the logger.

Serial Ports
I have often found that USB serial adaptors don't work very well and in the end one uses a ye'old laptop with a real serial port.

Is the AstraTec stuff the same ?

Yeah, most of them are rubbish.

I use this one, never had a problem with it -

http://www.dabs.com/products/startec...20-%20Adaptors

I have used it with Astratec, ADD IPU-16 and Pectel T6's without issue.

Also works fine with VMware Player for running XP etc on Windows 7/8

Your beacon receiver is definitely an early astratech unit but I'm almost certain the other box you have pictured there is not an Astratech logger. It could be a logger from another manufacturer but it looks suspiciously unlike a logger to me. If you follow the cable out of the beacon receiver does it lead into this silver box? Where do some of the other wires out of this box go?
It looks more like maybe an ignition ECU to me...
FYI, I do have the astratech software and some manuals and some spares but that doesn't look like anything I remember astratech making.

P.S. Astratech used to have 3pin sure seal connectors on all sensors - does you system have these?

The other box looks suspiciously like an early Race Logic traction control box (based on general size, appearance and connectors). There should be wires going to either wheel or ABS module. Also some wires going from this box to injectors. The serial cable coming out of it can be plugged into a PC for config purposes. Software is available on Racelogic's website. IIRC you can plug it into a PC via Hyperterminal.

Astra Tech Datalogger Help

I know this is a long shot, as the thread is very old now, but does anybody still have any software and documentation for the Astra Tech Race Technology data loggers?

I've been asked to look at one for a friend who is rebuilding a classic racer with one fitted.

The setup comprises the beacon, logger, remote, 2 LCD screens and another small diecast box.
Unfortunately, the only thing at appears to power up is the beacon.
The only numbers I can find, are a partially obscured Type no. ending 72, and a serial no. 1090D6.
No documentation was provided with the car, so I am hoping that somebody on here still has some, or could possibly put me in touch with somebody who could help.

Thanks in Advance,
Andy.

Some years late to the party here, but I have a complete Astratech data logger (with beacon, and I’m fairly sure with DOS software and manual) in my garage. I’m guessing it’s worthless, so I’d be happy to send it to your friend for the cost of postage if he’s still interested. Im away until Jan 15 so can’t actually check the box or send it until then.
