AtlasF1 and Autosport team up
I have just received an email telling me that

Perhaps this isn't 100% surprising, but it is great news for Autosport subsribers - the Atlas results and general F1 site is excellent and very comprehensive. You find out so much more about a GP weekend. Last edited by Adam43; 5 Jan 2005 at 21:19. |

Only F1 forums. They are not as comprehensive as here.
However as well as the Atlas Journal the FORIX website will come with it. So that is news and in depth results and archive etc... Last edited by Adam43; 5 Jan 2005 at 21:55. |

Their forums are rubbish.
Maybe ten-tenths should do a deal to replace the forum section. |

I'm an Autosport web-subscriber. I gave Atlas a 6-month trial about 18 months ago but found Autosport a lot more value for money.

Atlas/Forix is very impressive. It is by far the best motorsport subscription site. It is a shame it deals almost exclusively in F1, but then that is why it can offer such a comprehensive service. The information that is available for its GP coverage is fantastic. Evey lap time, every driver, every session and with an interface that is easy to use - easy to compare drivers, easy to visuliae the data. The news is quality (as much as news can be nowadays), it seems to me that it just gets on with the job of informing.
The merger. Two for one, or one for two? Well Autosport was expanding it's archive which I am really enjoying. The old articles (e.g 1970 Le Mans full report!) are fantastic and hopefully this will only improve. Perhaps the Atlas quality and quantity will help the Autosport side expand. Taking some of the other parts of motorsport with it? They perhaps can benefit with pig-backing on F1. We'll see how it pans out, but I'm a happy man at the moment. |

The deal is that Haymarket now owns the AtlasF1 site - and Atlas editor Biranit Goren will join Jonathan Noble and Simon Strang in running the combined effort.

Autosport will eventually receive the "Atlas Treatment" one of the things they will start working on in the near future is a more extensive and varied Autosport photo gallery

That's good - Haymarket has a huge library of pictures we never get to see.

I'm sure there are some things Atlas do bette than 10 Tenths, and some things 10 Tenths do better than Atlas.
Nevertheless, I'm sure 10 Tenths staff are already making plans about how to rise to the challenge and to make these forums even better, with more interesting topics and quality threads and incisive posting. The competition is ramping up, and that can only be good news! |

Ian - the forums at Atlas are really a side issue. That site is about racing content.
Ten-Tenths core product is forums, and on the whole, I believe they do it better than anyone else. The Atlas F1 forum is a hot bed of name-calling, swearing, personal attacks and intellectually devoid nonsense. |

So in many ways they are similar
Have to say, I've not fully investigated the Atlas forums too much as 10 Tenths is good enough for me! Last edited by Ian Sowman; 6 Jan 2005 at 14:51. |

Ha ha.....
Not at all. Ten-tenths is well moderated and usually provides sensible discussion. Atlas does have a good "Nostalgia Forum" but the F1 section of its forums is a million miles beneath ten-tenths. |

It is right that AtlasF1's forum is a sideline. It is there other stuff that makes their site so good. I look forward to how they can improve with access to Haymarket's resources and also how Autosport can improve with AtlasF1's web knowhow. |

Some time ago a bunch of Atlas numpties tried to hijack the F1 forum here. We didn't have a history forum at the time so I posed the question about Prince Bira. I asked why he was so important.
What I got from the numpties was that "Bira" ran the Atlas F1 forum and was an arse! I realised these guys had no idea what I was talking about. I guess that's why the were banned from here. |

Pete, a lot of people don't know what you're on about. Should they be banned too?
