Well, it's actually the Crown Royal Presents the Samuel Deeds 400 but who the hell cares to call it that other than Crown and Sam? Maybe the Crown Royal Dirty Deeds 400 would be a good name?

Filling in this week for a busy and more than likely tired JHamilton....

I agree. I would really like to see a plate thrown on these cars and let em do 3 x 14 for 3 hours at Indy. Now that would be entertaining.

Nice looking crowd there today, which is encouraging. 150k if I were to guess. Obviously they just happened to be visiting/vacationing in Nap Town and decided to drive over for the race.

^ I heard they actually had to turn people away from the Speedway today; I believe they showed up to play a round of golf.

The high speed precession has begun in earnest. 53 caution free laps. ESPN proving they are the worldwide leader in Commercials. My normal country station that broadcasts the races is not airing it today. WTF?

At about half-way through the race I just gave up. I couldn't watch anymore.

Newman is a great guy and congrats to him for his win today. Unfortunately, Newman has never really been a title contender, which will hurt his chances for finding a drive next year.

They showed an overhead shot on TV at the end of the broadcast of the front straight grandstands and I couldn't believe the amount of rust on the roof of the top of the stands. HJJ, all of Indiana is rusty and bumpy, based on my 2 unfortunate trips there. And the whole IMS facility looks like my high school football stadium times 240,000, plus a bad ass Pagoda, a golf course, a well manicured lawn, a really loud PA system and a way too early morning cannon.

And someone please name a great crowd at a NASCAR or Indycar race in the last 5 years....

Just this year alone? There have been plenty of good crowds even for Indycar.

70,000 people was the estimated attendance by the Indy Star, to give you an idea, that's one of the worst crowds of the year statistically in by far the sport's highest capacity track.

When will IMS hit the panic button?
